I was at the tournament on Saturday, Zach Johnson gave a smirk to my buddy wearing an ISU polo. The Colonial is a really easy course to get around and parking on TCUs campus made for a quick shuttle to the course. Likely going back next year, the Stockyeards area was also a blast.

I guess I both get it and I don't for DJ. He was always the perfect mark for LIV as a guy who has the credentials, but also probably doesn't care much about his legacy, reputation, competition level, etc. I imagine he's content to rake in the money and is likely pretty unconcerned about anything else. Play a few tournaments a year, make the same amount (or more) you'd make playing a full PGA slate, sounds alright.

At the same time, I just cannot fathom doing all this with what the PGA offers. Guy has made $75 million dollars just in tour winnings and he's only 37 years old. Who knows how much else he's making in endorsement deals. Not to mention his FIL is worth a cool 250 million dollars. I guess I should know better than to put any stock in the "don't you already have enough money" argument, as that argument rarely seems to stop anyone from doing anything in the sports world, but it just seems so silly to completely tarnish your reputation and get banned from the Tour when you already have an incomprehensible amount of money.

Realistically it sounds awesome to be able to play in maybe 6 events and probably earn more than he does having to slog through 20-25 PGA events, especially if he still gets to compete in any majors.

I'm not sure he has the best reputation anyways.

There's also the chance, although not guaranteed, that he could still play in 1 or more of the majors still since they're not PGA Tour run events. That's probably all he really cares about at this point. I know the PGA Championship alluded to not letting LIV players play, but who knows.

All in all this seems like it won't be interesting to watch in the slightest, it's either young guys I've never heard of or older guys that are past their prime.
Yeah, seems like the lineup is about equivalent to an early season backwater PGA event, but maybe older than average.

As far as I know, LIV doesn't even have a television contract with anyone in the world yet. They're streaming the events free on YouTube.

Golf Channel always need content but I'm sure the tour has them in a hammerlock on this.

Seems like it may have been smarter to run their 3 day events Monday-Wednesday, at least for a while, to gather interest. Would probably lessen the gallery, but I'd be much more likely to watch the PGA if both are on (and much more likely to watch theirs if nothing else was on).

Yeah DJ better get a lot of that money up front or have an iron clad contract because who knows how long LIV will even last. That list of golfers does nothing for me in terms of interest.

Agree…. what a horrible league. No names on there move the needle at all for me. Hope it tanks.

Phil might as well have joined at this point, his career may be done.

I saw this mentioned on Twitter and it's dead on. All LIV is trying to do is put on an event with alot of money on the line. There will be dudes that miss the cut at the Canadian Open and see Talor Gooch win 2 million dollars for 3rd place or something and will think twice about just how loyal they are to the PGA Tour.

Didn't get a chance to watch any golf today and just saw that Matsuyama got DQ'd from the event:
