Sure, how many more bad games can he afford? I didn't realize they had a bye next week. They'll give him a shot with their full lineup against Jacksonville. If that goes as poorly as these last 3 games have gone he's in real trouble.

Darnold has been terrible during his career so it's certainly possible any potential benching wouldn't last long

lol, this is extremely petty. Good to know ISU players years after playing still torment some Hawk fans.

This. He loses his head in the crunch like that. He needs to settle down and trust what works. The Niners are a mess right now.
I’m also stunned he cleared concussion protocols so quickly. Saw him crack his head on one play today immediately grabbing his head and no one on the team either saw or recognized. Glad they have a bye week for him to rest up.

That looked weird. How is he able to stay in the game? Don’t they have spotters supposedly to look for that stuff?

Both the team and the league are supposed to have spotters from what I understand. I don’t know if they factor in the concussion the previous week but they 100% should especially given Tua last year. The fact that this was the highlighted game of the week doesn’t help their oversight though.

He not getting benched, good lord people are idiots. Mahomes had a couple bad games maybe they should bench him.

Reality is he's been fine but not as perfect as before, , defense can't stop anything right now.

Yeah, he's come back to earth a bit and the defense has really come back to earth. How many times did SF force a punt today? Once? That entire team needs a bye week.

As a Bengals fan I get that I'm biased. But most objective fans would also recognize that a healthy Joe Burrow and Cincinnati offense is pretty good. Can't hang it all on the SF defense.

Now that that game is out of the way, Brock can go ahead and win the rest of the regular season games this year...esp against Baltimore and Pittsburgh.

It is quite funny how twitterhoks are so quiet or dismissive when ISU does well or former players are playing well in the NFL but as soon as there is a bad game, they are ready to pounce. I saw several hawk fans giddy on twitter about the 49ers struggling blaming it on Purdy.

Gosh,

I wonder if the 49'ers defense has had anything to do with the 3 losses?

They got the credit when SF was winning...

Every QB goes through adversity and he is going through it now. We'll see how he recovers. That's what will determine if he is going to stick as a starter in this league or be a flash in the pan.

I’ve racked my brain and can’t recall any time I’ve wished a former Hawk to fail in the pros.

Once they’re out of the rivalry, and can play ball, who cares?
Outside of Kittle and the TEs in the NFC north, I couldn’t even tell you who the Hawks have in the NFL. I’m sure they have some lineman around but I’ve got no idea where they even play.

Maybe Robert Gallery. I wouldn't say I rooted against him, but I did enjoy him being a complete bust as the #2 overall pick.

This. If Shanahan thought Darnold was a better option he would have started him today with Purdy in concussion protocol all week. Hell, Shanahan announced early in the week that Purdy would start if he cleared protocol even if he didn’t practice all week.

Purdy had some peaks and valleys here too. I realize the NFL is a different beast, but I suspect once he gets Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel back the 49ers will get back to their regular form.

How do you define bust?

Imo it's when a player blows off the work needed and flakes out from idiocy like Johnny Football.

Gallery had chronic injuries and got moved around a bunch.
