There’s more gunslinger in him still than I think what’s been shown in the league so far. It’s come out at different times but minimized. Like that “what the **** are you doing Bro…… great idea!!!” throw in Jacksonville.I can't tell you how awesome it is to read this thread as a 49ers fan. Love how so many of you are actively rooting for the 49ers now (and of course Brock's success). If I can add some context to things...
I've been a 49er fan my whole life (36 years) and not since Steve Young have I had the confidence in a QB like I do Brock. When he winds up for a deep throw I firmly believe it's a big play waiting to happen (with Jimmy G I was just hoping it wasn't an interception). Brock is so smooth going through reads, using his athleticism when needed and also a bit of a gunslinger that keeps defenses honest. It's a pleasure to watch each week.

With no pro teams in the state it is really easy to follow our ex players. Then when they are doing well on the band wagon we jump. LOL. I'm old I remember how much fun it was to watch Montana and Rice et al...
If you've nosed around the website you've seen we have a fair amount of Viking, Packer, Chiefs, and Bear fans on, but most all of us find it really easy to cheer for Purdy and Co.
Also helps that Brock’s personality is the anti of the typical superstar. He's one of the most awesome human beings I’ve ever met.I was just going to point that out. You're going to see a lot of ISU fans on the bandwagon because 1) we have freedom of choice in pro teams because there aren't any in the state and we're evenly divided between closest teams and 2) we haven't had many high profile pro players and none that have reached the heights of Purdy.
I grew up sorta a Chiefs fan, but I'm old enough to have been a fan when Montana was in Kansas City. I say sorta, because I never really bought in much. More recently it's been all about where ISU players are in the pros - makes it super easy for me to become a Niners fan. Dig the team colors too. The players themselves are pretty easy to cheer for as well. Tons of personality in Kittle, Trent Williams is awesome. Fred Warner is a ton of fun to watch. Deebo was named properly (Friday anyone?). CMC's name has an acronym that sounds familiar but I can't place it.
Love The Freak. He might be my favorite baseball player of all time. That wind up and delivery was sick, it made a 5’11 160 pound guy dominant in an era of big power pitchers. We may never see that again.I like the fact you're a Purdy fan and also a San Francisco Giants fan. Buster Posey and Tim Lincecum from 2010 to the mid 2010's were the best
Purdy is in no win situation. Many talking heads are saying that Niners are winning despite Purdy and any QB can do the same things. They are saying that Purdy is the only one who can prevent the Niners from winning the Super Bowl.I keep hearing the talking heads saying that Dak is the mvp favorite after beating the eagles. Didn't Purdy just do the same thing in more impressive fashion on the road? Frankly the eagles just aren't a very good team right now. I do think Dallas is playing very well right now, but still how does this make sense?
That pitching group in the early 2010s was ridiculous. The freak, Barry Zito, Matt Cain, Bumgarner, and THE BEARD as the closer.Love The Freak. He might be my favorite baseball player of all time. You still occasionally see people wearing Panda hats at Oracle Park to this day, years after Pablo left the Giants. All those guys had a huge impact on the Giants and just how big that franchise was for a while. There was a year (may have been 2014, but not totally sure) where Posey had the #1 selling baseball jersey of any MLBer.That pitching group in the early 2010s was ridiculous. The freak, Barry Zito, Matt Cain, Bumgarner, and THE BEARD as the closer.
Obviously Buster Posey was the big star young catcher, but the crowd always went nuts for Pablo Sandoval “the Panda.”
In between games this thread is just people that think Brock is a good quarterback making posts that other people that think Brock is a good quarterback will read and agree with. Guys, he's a good quarterback.
Cyclone fans are from from the only ones getting defensive about it, but yeah, there are people out there saying it. This five game win streak has brought a lot of people around, but people like Nick Wright, Cam Newton, Micah Parsons and others are out there saying some form of the "system" argument.![]()
I'm just a bandwagon 49er's fan, and just watch the games, I don't listen to mid-week stuff. Are there actually a lot of "pundits" out there still saying that Purdy is just a system QB / no arm, etc? Or is that a little bit of a straw-man that we like to make up to bash? Or somewhere in the middle?
Maybe it was true 5-6 games ago, but not anymore? Again, I don't pay attention to mid-week NFL stuff at all.

What's really driving it now is the mvp debate between Dak and Purdy. A lot of Dallas/Dak fans are invested in diminishing Purdy's accomplishments. It's not everyone, but if you look at the comments on twitter, there are a lot of doubters. Definitely more than there should be based on the results.
I honestly do think there's a lot to the idea that people don't want to have been wrong about him.
True, but Dallas also has some tough match ups left. Based on past history I expect Dak to have a boner game or two. What's really driving it now is the mvp debate between Dak and Purdy. A lot of Dallas/Dak fans are invested in diminishing Purdy's accomplishments.
Probably. I was strictly talking about where a lot of the criticism from Purdy is coming from now, not if Dak will actually win it.True, but Dallas also has some tough match ups left. Based on past history I expect Dak to have a boner game or two.
