I was thinking the same thing. My interest in the rest of the college football world fluctuates with ISU's success. Kind of a bandwagon CFB fan in that regards. I'm not a bandwagon Cyclone fan though. I suffer through every ISU game.

March Madness is another monster, though. I can't watch enough CBB.

This=my thoughts.

No kidding. It was an amazing era, and I feel lucky to have been on campus for it all. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Regardless, kudos to you for having perspective, as it was something I lacked, many times, while in the moment.

My first year at Iowa State was 96-97. Entered the real world in 2002. I felt very, very bad for the bucks who there after I left. Think of what happened during that stretch:

- ended the streak against Iowa (won many more than we lost to those bags)
- Jacy, Dedric, Kenny, Shawn, Kelvin
- Rotation seating at Hilton (no CAC)
- Big 8 Tournament Champions
- Sweet 16
- Fennelly
- 9 win FB season
- Bowl games
- Seneca
- Larry
- 1st (and only) McDonald's All-American
- Fizer, Nurse, Stevie, Tinsley, Horton
- Big 12 Conference Champions
- Big 12 Tournament Champions
- Destruction of UCLA (pay back for 97)
- Elite 8
- "It's just another gym"
- Sullivan
- Big 12 Conference Champions

I graduate...and the bottom falls out.

Indeed...you gotta cherish it.

Exactly. March Madness is my favorite sporting event of the year, every year, regardless if the Cyclones are playing. If the Clones are in it, then it's even more special.

That said, I'm a football season ticket holder too; it's just not as important to me as basketball. I still cheer hard for the football team, but I don't expect them to win every home game like I do when I'm in the cathedral that is Hilton.

Nothing like walking in those doors and smelling the popcorn, hearing the band and watching the players warm up to build the sense of anticipation! If you're ever lived away from Iowa and then had the pleasure to move back after only getting to maybe one (or no) games at Hilton every year, the feeling is even more special.
