This has been a long time coming. Opening in the "old brewery building" near Principal Park...

The third floor now hosts 300 Craft & Rooftop, a 2,300-square-foot bar and cocktail lounge with views of downtown Des Moines to the northwest and Principal Park, home of the Iowa Cubs, to the southeast. The bar joins neighbors Guru BBQ and Fuzzy’s Tacos in the 300 MLK complex.
“We wanted to open in September, but with construction and some other things, it took longer,â€￾ said Ryan Flattery, one of the owners who also has a piece in the Gas Lamp in the Western Gateway.
When the bar debuts on Thursday, expect 14 craft beers on tap with a heavy influence on local brews plus a ream of craft cocktails on the menu. Flattery and his partner Darren Helm were still working out the menu details as construction crews raced to finish the bar on Wednesday.

Eh, not impressed with what I'm hearing about this place. I live about 100 yds from this place and was wishing it was going to be more of a awesome sports bar. Downtown doesn't have one, (Johnnys on court Ave is blah and Legends sucks) don't think that this place will last long with Bait being so close. Really underwhelmed with this project, Fuzzys is the only good part of this new devolpment. Guru BBQ is over priced and not that good, the workout place seems never busy. I thought they were putting in a Golf Simulator bar in this devolpment at one time? That would be awesome.

I thought Guru was good and priced similar to Woody's. Both the owner and head chef checked on us during my dinner last Friday despite the place being packed.

Fuzzy's burritos are good. Tacos aren't anything special.

Anytime Fitness seems decently busy most of the time I pass by also.

So what I'm gathering is that everything brought forth is merely anecdotal evidence and everyone has an opinion. Got it.

I'll be in the area this weekend and will suggest for our group to check this place out for sure.

See they release this video.

Not a bad promo.

Still don't get why they haven't installed any type of cool signage so you can see from the street that they are there. Maybe there is a strategy behind that?

I went for the second time a couple of weeks ago. Of course it's no comparison to EBS or Iowa Tap but the rooftop setting is cool and they have some good beer. Psuedo Sue (in a can) and Coffee Bender before heading for dinner at Bubba.

Bubba had excellent food and a great selection of beer for a resturant. I had Odell Ipa.

Ended the night at Juniper Moon where I had an Avery IPA.

So many great choices downtown

We went there for my brothers birthday. It seemed like the type of place where most people drink domestics or liquor...but they happened to have craft beer on draft as well. The patio was absolutely stellar though. Great environment. I would definitely stop by again.

Been there twice? It says it doesn't open until tomorrow! How have you been there?

It's been open since Febuary. I've been there quite a bit and it's a cool bar. A little pricy but it keeps the riff raff out by doing so. Like I said earlier I live next door and Blaze Pizza is bomb.com fuzzy's is fantastic. Guru BBQ is pricy and sub par, (they will be closed by spring any takers on that bet?) and I still don't understand the workout facilities it's never busy or being used.

I went the first month it was open and I felt like this place had a theme problem. Cool venue but definitely seemed like a place where people would drink hard alcohol and domestic beer. Music was so loud we couldnt even have a conversation at our table. Definitely had a Mickey's Irish Pub patio feel.

Eh not gonna lie place isn't that great or cool. Just cause it's a rooftop doesn't make it great. I think people think it's "neat" since it's one of DSM only rooftop bars but in reality it blows.

While I'm at it so does pretty much every restaurant/bar in that building. Yes talking about you fuzzys and guru. Not good. Big disappointment.

Ya i never understood the gym there. Also too bad to hear a few people say Guru isn't good. I've only had it twice and enjoyed it both times, but it's been awhile. Good concept.
