Not as proud of it as I once was but I did 30 shots and 10-12 beers while bartending one night. My buddies put me up to it since some guy was doing 21 for his bday. My boss called my girlfriend and she had to come pick me up at close. However to save me the lecture he told her it was slow and I could leave... Best boss ever!

No offense, but I don't buy this one at all. The only way that is even possible is if they were those non-alcohol fruity shots you bartenders serve up to the chicks at the bar.

I would need two things in order to give this 48 beers in 48 hours a try.

1. Good, primo beer. None of this Bud Light, Miller Light, or Coors Light crap.

2. A heavy duty, industrial strength toilet that I can reach within 10 steps.

One of my college roommates had an unspoken record of 9 of the big cups (46 oz) at Kelly's one year at the Big XII in a day from about 11am-9pm. He was all of 6'5 and all of 350+. He could drink more than anybody I've ever been around. Of course, he is no longer with us. RIP Wide Body....
Reminds me of the Chris Taylor stories. He's a man that could probably do the 48 beers in 24 hours.

I once did 21 shots in around an hour and a half in college. Here's the breakdown:

8 shots Bacardi 151
10 shots tequila
3 shots Wild Turkey

If you add all of this up it actually equals 28.89 shots of 80 proof alcohol.

I got sick and passed out, some smart friends realized I was not doing well and rushed me to Mary Greeley. My BOC was .321 after not drinking for a couple of hours. A record I never plan to break. Probably changed the alcohol policy of the ISU greek system forever. Sorry everyone!

1 can equals 1 beer. Regardless of size of said can. You learned this last fall.:biglaugh:

Be advised....

Like what? If you're drinking heavily you gotta go with the light stuff. A Sam Adams or anything similar would fill you up too fast.

I watched a neighbor of mine drink 50 beers on his 50th birthday. It took him about 11 or 12 hours to do so. He is probably 6'3' and wieghs in at 375.

Today at work the topic over break was whether or not it is possible to drink 48 beers in 24 hours. I say anyone who can is an alcoholic. I used my weight on wikipedia's bac chart and came up with my ending bac would be .83% which is beyond legally dead. Anyone think that it is actually possible?

This may sound implausible, but I came damned close one day in college. I'd already had 10 beers before lunch. It was a football Saturday, but it was an away game. After we went to lunch, we came back to the den, where someone had set up a radio so we could listen to the game, and I had about 7 or 8 more beers.

Then we started getting serious. One of the guys bought a keg and put it in the den at about 3. There weren't many guys in the den, maybe only about 8 or 9 and we were all still working on our own beer too, so not much competition for the keg.

We went to supper at about 6, came back and drank more beer from the keg in the den, then decided at about 9 to go out to the bars. By this time, I had begun to drink myself sober. It was dollar night for longnecks at one bar, I had $20 on me and came home with nothing. At this point, I can't remember if it all went for beer, or if we grabbed something to eat sometime during the night too.

We closed the bar, anyway, and came back to the den, where there was still plenty of beer left in the keg. By this time, it was just me and the hard cores, about 3 or 4 other guys. We played cards and drank.

By about 6 a.m. there were just two of us left. I poured my last beer at 9 a.m., when Jimmy Swaggart came on TV. I sang along with his theme song and woke up the only guy left in the den with me, along with about half the house. Guys were getting up to shower and go to church by this time. I finally "called it a night." at about 9:30 and stumbled off to bed.

I started off that Saturday with a case of longnecks, the cheap brand from Hy-Vee that you could get for $3.98 a case. There weren't any left the next day. I didn't drink all of them myself. I probably shared 4 or 5 with some of the guys. But I'd drank all those beers at the bar and all those beers from the keg, plus beers that my friends gave me when I visited their rooms during the day.

I don't know how many I drank for sure that day, but I always guessed it had to be close to 48, maybe even more. The only number I know for sure was the 10 I consumed before lunch. I'd had at least 24 by the time we went to the bar.

I think you are overstating the final BAC. For a 180 lbs. male, each drink contributes 0.021% to the BAC. 48 drinks would have an aggregate BAC of 1.008% BAC (48*0.021%). However, your BAC declines by 0.01 for each 40 minutes. In this scenario, your total loss would be approximately 0.72% (72 forty-minute periods * 0.01%). Thus, the final BAC would be roughly 0.288%.

Nice job on the math but all that needs to be said is 48 beers divided by 24 hours = HAMMERED

Tough but definitely possible. I came close once, not by plan. Key is to keep plenty of food and water in the system as well. Had a bet with a buddy on who could drink more starting at 7 AM, if I wouldn't have fallen asleep/passed out at 3:30, I may have gotten close.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but we should have a cyclonefanatic beer olympics. I'd love to challenge someone to a game of edward 40hands.

I might have come close to 48 beers in 24 hours. Once did 100 beers in 72 hours. Works out to a beer every 43 minutes...

Started Thursday after dinner. Drank until passing out Friday morning. Got up around noon and drank all day and night Friday. Passed out again until noon Saturday. Drank an incredible amount Saturday afternoon thru night. Woke up again Sunday morning and had to finish off around 30 beers before 6pm. Made it with time to spare...

I didn't make class on Monday... or Tuesday...

The old two day hangover. I had one of them after a small town concert a few weeks ago. Breaking out my old college shotgunning skills to impress the crowd wasn't a good idea.

The Bears would like to see Perry shrivel down to 295. Fridge thinks 308 is a nice cozy playing weight. "Even when I was little, I was big," he reasons. But it seems the hefty old days of cereal in mixing bowls and ribs stacked like cordwood are gone. Beer is another matter, however. It is a sort of plasma for Fridge. "In college one time after a game I drank 48 cans of beer," he says. "Wasn't nothing. Just having a nice time."

Another must do drinking game... Beer an Inning. Simple rules. Attend baseball game. Make friends with the beer vendor. Drink a beer every inning. Be a man, 12 ounce beers don't count. Double plays suck. Call for a cab in the 3rd inning while you can still see...
