Those are hurting him too. Draft status, name moniker that it comes with, pay. They want the high paid, high draft pick, marquee guy to be the MVP. Face of the league. Even for marketing purposes for the NFL.
None of those are working against him. That's just fans preparing a litany of made up reasons when not every NFL talking head automatically has them #1 on their MVP list.

IMO the biggest thing hurting Brock is he has another MVP level player on his team. CMC leading the league in rushing and non-kicker scoring is being used to diminish Brock's accomplishments. It's also why some people put a damper on discussions about Tua/Tyreek.

If they win the Super Bowl this year and he’s MVP of the league and/or Super Bowl, that movie is being filmed over the summer for Disney +.
If this took place 20 years ago, Matt Damon would have had the starring role. Not sure who would be best now.

Has anybody seen any updates on what Brock is making off the field? Looks like Brady made 2 million on jersey sales in 2019, could Brock be approaching that number? His endorsements should be ramping up as well.

My opinion, but I believe that Brock is just elite in the play style that most fans take for granted.

MVP is now boiled down to what QB makes the most physically gifted plays. For example, most fans are gonna believe that a QB forcing a throw to his 2nd read 40 yards down the field with 2 DB's covering him as a WOW play if successful (which it is), but there's a high rate of being picked off or deflected. Brock COULD attempt that throw (and has) but he goes for the 4th read drop off, which goes for a 10-15 yard gain as Brock decided to throw that direction within 2 seconds.

The pass for Brock is easy, since the player may have been uncovered, but most QB's may not make it in time. That's what Brock's great at, but since he doesn't risk throwing a bullet like Josh Allen, it's not "special".

I truly think if Brock wins MVP, it warrants a discussion that a lot of shock-jocks and fans will eventually not want to have, as to what makes a great QB.

This is the strangest part of NIL to me. Where's the 49ers collective that pays players "endorsements" trying to keep cap space down?

With his rookie contract salary how could anyone argue he's not the most valuable player?

Versus the salaries of any other QB candidate in the running, the 49ers are getting equal (or better!) performance value for pennies on the dollar.

Literally, the most valuable player.

(And yes, I know that's not what it actually means.)

If the wins the Super Bowl after all of this I'm certain they will make a Hollywood movie. With the draft status moniker, the elbow injury, career in jeopardy, comeback, prove them wrong. It's a perfect Hollywood script. They did a Kurt Warner movie and you will see this one too no doubt about it. It's just a question of when. But I think the movie and maybe a book will be made.
I look forward to the scene where he returns to Iowa with his fiancé during the Bye after a few tough games and finds himself during a sunset montage on the combine.

By that metric him and Hali are bar none the MVP's since Hali's raise doesn't kick in until next year.

Brock's super power is the mental aspect of the game. Elite processing pre and post snap. Going through reads and progressions lightning quick. Making the right decision, getting the ball out quick. Throwing with anticipation and timing. Throwing with accurate ball placement in stride so the offensive player can get yards after the catch. He has good mechanics and accuracy.

They are waiting for him to stiff arm a linebacker, run out scrambling one way, throw 70 yards across the field the other way. Against the way you are scrambling. Then throw a bullet. That's Josh Allen. They are waiting for a physically out of this world play. But Brock is mental mostly which is most important. With some underrated physical.

It's hard for him to show up physically the way fans or media want. Because it's the mental and processing with Brock. But Brees and Montana made whole careers on processing and throwing accurately. Neither were the biggest guy in stature in the league. His greatness is not appreciated. Because he does it another way. A way that is sometimes hard to show up on tape. Unless you understand the processing and the game.

Kurt’s story is quite a bit more remarkable. Only a 1 year starter at UNI, undrafted, bagged groceries, played Arena football, married a crazy chick with multiple kids, then stumbled onto an NFL team around age 28.

I think there's a comparison that they both had absolute legend running backs, an incredible #1 receiver, some really athletic additional targets and an innovative offense that just needed a really quick thinking QB. The way Brock reads the defense mentally in the blink of an eye does remind me of KW. I think Brock is a little better keeping plays alive with his legs.

They are both amazing in different ways. You will see a movie someday if he wins. I don't doubt that.

Why can’t we buy Brock Purdy Iowa State jerseys? All I can find is fake ones from China. I would buy a real Nike one the moment they came out.

I honestly think the biggest "issue" that Purdy has is that he has a damn good team around him. He makes them better and they make him better. It's an unfortunate reality.

Let's be honest, if Purdy was on the Jets or Titans or Panthers or the Patriots this season, we would be having a different discussion. Would he still have developed the same skill set? Or is he running around for his f'ing life trying not get sacked, find a receiver, and having to force things, and then being the fall guy for the front office ineptitude?
