I am done with the show. Matt has such hatred for Jame (deserved or not) and can't stand anything he does. He blames JP for McD and the state of ISU basketball, but never metions Bartta's name in regards to Iowa Basketball. As far as I am concerend, Matt's an idiot who needs to go back to NE. ....but that's not the reason for my post.

The bottom of Jamie's response simply says "Go Cyclones". I would have thought Jamie would have an "Auto Signature". Has anyone recieved an email from Jamie that can confirm or deny that he has an auto signature with his Name, title, etc. It just seemed a little strange to me. Just curious.

Several people have recieved several emails along the same lines... Sooooo unless this is a brilliant plan created by Hawk fans (which we all know they would never be that smart), I will take this kid and several others at their word.

Also, Barta hasn't been in the news like Pollard, so why have him on????

Did he extend Lick's contract??? NOPE

Did he have a press conference about Lick being the coach for next year??? NOPE

I'm sure once Barta makes a statement about the direction of the coach and program then they will discuss this. Until then.. Why????

Best thing Pollard could of done was keep his mouth shut.... No press conference or anything.

Uh, what?? So he isn't saying you have to be a donor to have an opinion, but you don't have the right to complain since you aren't a donor? Am I correct?

You have every right to complain. Does that mean it's in good taste to write a snippy angry email to the AD and expect him to give a ****? The kid said he'd never buy a ticket again, and JP merely pointed out that he's never bought a ticket in the first place. That, and if you want to complain to Pollard about results, you better be willing to invest something.

Pollard is saying, if you're going to come to me personally and ***** expecting something to change, you'd better help me create that change.

I like how most of you think as to how ISU's AD ought to conduct himself. I hope one of you will eventually succeed Pollard.

If you run a business much like Pollard does... Why would you **** off potential customers and ticket holders???

Everyone on this site will ***** about a bad company, business, or restuarant. Once it comes to Pollard and ISU, everything is ok and we just need to keep pumping our money into something not worth it.

If you bought a tv at Wal Mart that didn't work. Was told you couldn't return it. Then got chewed out by the manager and or completely ignored, would you come back???

I like how you have a grand total of two posts since 2006, and think that we give a crap what you opinion is. I hope you will succeed at getting to four posts by the time we all die.

Do you think Polllard's response was calm and level-headed? Do you think that's the way that the athletic director of a BCS school should respond to an angry fan, by saying that since you don't personally donate your opinion doesn't mean **** to me?

Pollard has had a rough week, and his claim that Mr. Rainey's email was the only one he received that had that kind of tone is laughable. I'm sure there were quite a few people on this board - donor and non-donor alike - who let Pollard know exactly what they're thinking, and the majority of what people were thinking was negative.

There's a lot more smack and bravado than brains on display in this thread.

Pollard's response was incredibly stupid and shortsighted. The response, if any, should have been to the effect of, "thanks for your thoughts, I hope we're able to win you back as a fan in the future."

That, or nothing.

Pollard's response, having now been made public, will justifiably offend a lot of people who consider themselves die-hard ISU fans. My guess is that an apology will be forthcoming from Pollard. And it turns out that Pollard's assumptions about whether the kid and his family have supported ISU athletics as ticket buyers were dead wrong.

I can't believe Pollard allowed one of these kinds of e-mails, of which AD's regularly get a truckload, to get under his skin enough to respond as he did. It really doesn't speak well of Pollard's maturity or judgment.

Nice post. Bottom line- if you try to look at this objectively, it looks terrible. And it will offend a lot of ISU fans...there is no way around it. Honestly, I can't understand the overwhelming support Pollard's response is gettting in this thread.

As has been mentioned, ISU is not in a position to be alienating fans, period. But that is the only possible outcome of Pollard providing this response.

Why do you care so much? I appreciate your concern about how our athletic director handles himself. There is good in you, I can feel it. Release yourself from the darkside of the force and join us.

Everybody's thrown their two cents on this one, so I'm hesitant to rehash but I'll contribute a couple of pennies as we.

Mr89IA, I understand the position you're in. I've been there, 20 years old, full of **** and vinegar, and for the lack of a better term, full of ****. Probably less full of it than I was at that age. You spouted off, and got called on it. Rather than take it like a man, you got defensive and dug yourself a deeper hole by forwarding it on to a derelict radio station. I've been there, done something stupid in a moment of youthful idiocy, and then gotten smacked down. Like you I just continued to dig myself a hole and not admit I was wrong, or at the very least drop it.

Your opinion is yours and you have every right to express it, you personally calling out players was out of line, and I would've been disappointed in Jamie didn't call you out like that. Learn from this.

A lot of people who are saying Jamie shouldn't act like this are some of the same people that revered Johnny Orr's no nonsense way about things. Can you imagine if Johnny was the AD? His response would've been something like "Well **** you too, coach!"

That's a great point. Johnny Orr would have read this kid the riot act, and we all would have loved it.

So.. The kid has tickets through his parents. He is 20 years old.

I agree that until he buys the tickets personally he shouldn't say much or have his parents write that email instead. That being said you don't say that to a potential customer. Instead don't say anything or send something back saying thanks for your concern.

Pollard instead pisses off a kid, probably resulting in his parents not buying tickets or donating anymore. Also, the kid goes public and then tells other "potential" customers that the program needs.

Not smart.

Well his dad bought the TV so when they look up the receipt and see that his dad paid for it.............I digress, what I mean is the kids dad has paid for the TV and the kid comes into customer service ranting and raving. Haven't you ever seen that in a similar situation? I have and I would not blame a manager for ripping him a new one.

The fact is Pollard did not say he was not a fan if he didn't donate. That is a fact. He also addressed him with questions reflecting on the kids attitude or the way in which he was going about trying to bring change. Jamie pointed out, and I admit it was somewhat rudely, that this person had done nothing to assist in change or the success of the program. He also said his parents bought tickets then on the radio said they bought some outside. I would assume that means scalping. As far as the AD is concerned that is the same thing. The AD receives nothing off a ticket sold by a scalper.

Jamie could have been nicer about this however mr89ia had this coming whether it was right or not. He halfway threatened Jamie and was pretty offensive in general. If people wouldn't have put words into Jamies letter without them actually being there this would be a lot less of a deal.
