We will be discussing ISU beating the #1 team in the country (Oklahoma).

There will also be some discussing how the Clones didn't beat the #1 team in the country by enough.

Greener pastures ahead.

But I like the optimism.

I stayed away from CF last night figuring the crazy over-reactionaries would be out in full force, and they are.

In general, this team is not as great ("#2 ranking," "we're the best!") as some of the over-reactionaries thought early in the year and not as bad ("we don't deserve to be ranked," "we might not even make the tournament") as some of the over-reactionaries think now. We've still got plenty of time to figure it out though and if this team goes on a winning streak or a deep NCAA run, all of this angst will be forgotten.

As to Doc's point above, it's Hilton and the students will be back. The complacency and less than intimidating atmosphere that was apparent while the students were gone should be gone as well and hopefully the people will believe again. If you don't believe we will win, then you don't believe in the Magic!

I hear what the OP is saying and think it is likely. I don't know if OU will be number 1 though.

...we will be unranked and 1-5 in conference play.

Does that mean we get to rush the court again? What a joke we have become. You are exactly right on our record, but the only problem is we will not beat Oklahoma.

This thread reminds me of John Hammond near the beginning of Jurassic Park speaking to the lawyer: "In 48 hours, I'll be accepting your apologies."

I think we all know how that one turned out.

In all seriousness though, if we do beat K State and then the #1 team in the country, things would feel a heck of a lot better at this time next week. 3-3 in conference with a chance to add another big W against KU. Pre-season, what were the realistic odds of winning at OU and at Texas? The sky is not fallling--winning on the road in the Big 12 is tough and we've taken both of those games to the wire. The one that really stings is the Baylor loss.
