The world's fastest slow offense!Throwing a lot with a slow play tempo just isn't a true air-raid. With the tempo we seem to use wouldn't that be the Turtle Raid?![]()

To be fair to Dekkers in 2 of those games he made throws that should have been TDs but were flat out drops by WRs.Here is another very disturbing trend. Maybe someone with more time can do the research, but when was the last time an ISU QB led a late drive to tie or win a game?
This year, correct me if I am wrong, but in 6 of our 7 losses, we had the ball late in the fourth quarter with a chance to win the game (at least take a late lead) or to tie and we FAILED every single time. Is that all on Dekkers? No, he didn't shank the tying FG at KU and he is not calling the plays, but leading the team late is the hallmark of a great QB. And it seems we have been lacking that for a long, long time.
Even going back to Purdy, when was his last comeback win? I remember endings like the Big 12 championship game, or letting his knee touch the turf on the Baylor two point conversion (pass failed anyway).
When was the last fourth quarter comeback win? Texas when Dicker missed?
I think there is something to the reflexively point. Our offense may be too complicated where success depends on the perfect read, etc. we move around and shift so much but half the time we wind up jumping offsides or missing an assignment. Sometimes it seems our guys are thinking too much.Dekkers would be phenomenal if simply turned loose.
Let him just reflexively play QB and trust his instincts and arm strength.
Let him audible.
Go hurry up.
Run trips a lot to either open X up, or let him take coverage with him.
He might have the strongest arm in the conference and he is forced to dink and dunk repeatedly.
Such a waste, just like last year and this year.

There was a play in the Tech game where it was a bad snap and he snagged it with his right hand and just ripped the ball down the left sideline. His instincts took over and he made a play. I think that is the frustrating thing, he doesn’t seem to have great football instincts. I think he does have it in him, but I wish he would let it rip every once in a while.
I was speaking in terms of the turnovers and what others have said about him not seeing the field and missing open receivers. I don’t how accurate those statements are. I know when he runs the ball, especially early in the season he wasn’t running behind his pads and ran laterally instead of making a cut and getting up field, but I agree, it was nice to see his instincts take over, I want to see more of that.Isn't the bolded an example of great football instincts?
When he's just playing football he's really good and is why the roll out looks like a great way to find that for him.
He especially gets torched by zone D, playing his own game or not. His ability to see defenders in space is poor. Felt like most of his INTs came against zone, usually by him tossing a ball directly into a defender he didn't see.I was speaking more in terms of the turnovers and what others have said

If a team can run the ball, do teams play less zone? IDK, I am asking. Is it a case where we can’t run the ball, so teams can play a lot of zone, compounding the problem? Is this something Dekkers will improve upon, or is he not the guy?He especially gets torched by zone D, playing his own game or not. His ability to see defenders in space is poor. The difference is the three TEs he had and breece being a good pass blocker…. Having those three TEs that are all good at blocking and pass catching was a huge threat.Purdy never had an Oline this bad. The pass protection was generally pretty good.
It's been astonishing seeing how much more comfortable he is on a roll out or similar and how it's seldom used.
Need to look for a JUCO RBWith no help coming. Have to hope Brock comes back strong and can stay healthy, Norton continues to improve, and huge strides needed from Silas and Sanders. The latter two really make me nervous anytime I see them in the game. Just can't be trusted, but they're all we have.
You can kill zone well with TEs that find the soft spots and just stop and wait for the pass. The difference is the three TEs he had and breece being a good pass blocker…. Having those three TEs that are all good at blocking and pass catching was a huge threat.
I'm no expert either, this is armchair at best.... I think the bigger problem for us is that we are so pass-heavy (due to a poor run game) that it makes more sense for defenses to sit back and wait for us to throw at them. We could encourage them to play closer in or go more into man if we did have a bigger rush threat that a defense needed to put more resources in the box to account for. At that point they'd likely be better on us to not beat them deep.If a team can run the ball, do teams play less zone? IDK, I am asking. The running game is 90% offensive live, 8% RBs and 2% Dekkers on the fault scale.Certainly would help with better RB's, not saying the running game has been good.
Just zero respect to the zone read, and its too slow developing.
As mentioned in previous threads, the defense continually retools for the players they have. The offense needs to do the same. We cannot run last years offense with Dekkers as QB.
