Larger donor, increased seating capacity, increased TV revenue, taking on debt like other schools.

They'll most likely replace a majority of Kyle (all but the north endzone) on the same location rather than building in a location better suited for tailgating because of "tradition".

They sold out of tickets for next season essentially on the first day each package was available. They have the demand for more seats (i.e. more revenue).

I know that there was some discussion about A&M giving up some student seating to accomodate SEC guidelines - has anything been decided regarding that?

I ask because it would seem that a new stadium would mean A&M would lose any foothold of being grandfathered in to preserve the "12th Man" atmosphere. I would guess that a renovation would be preferable to a new stadium, as that would best preseve the 12th Man - am I right on that ISUAggie?

Major oil companies had tailgate tents set up during games...lots of money in Aggieland. No problem with stadium money.

Yes, they had to move a portion of the student section to the south endzone. Rows 1-25 in three sections. Their petition for an exemption was denied.

People want to keep the stadium in its current location just build new there.

It's going to be a massive project because they can't just "renovate". Parts of their old stadium are under the current stands and as soon as you begin "renovation" local code states EVERYTHING has to be brought up to code. That's why the north endzone doesn't connect to the rest of the stadium.

Why don't they just add another gargantuan deck of horrible seats a mile up in the air and a mile back from the field? That's what they have done before. Horrible stadium.

This is why no additions will be made to their stadium:
as soon as you begin "renovation" local code states EVERYTHING has to be brought up to code.

And being without a stadium for a year or two is another reason for them considering a new location.

I thought I had heard maybe last fall that this was the plan to begin with. Remove the Jumbotron from south endzone and builld back and up to create a total capacity near 110,000 to spit in the Longhorns' faces.

Something like:

I'm really confused as to how this ended up in the Iowa State Basketball Forum. It isn't Iowa State, it isn't basketball, hell, it isn't even Big 12.

That would be stupid. I think Kyle Field is the best looking stadium in the country. Just has a very unique look with the 3 teirs. I could see them remodling it a little. However its a very neet looking stadium.

When i created the thread, it didn't say anything about what forum to put it in. Did i miss something?

When you create a thread, make sure you are in the forum where you want the new thread to reside. If you were in Mens BB when you created it, that is where CF puts it.
