I see a lot of similarities in AJ Green and Allen Lazard. Both had/have opportunities at better/more prestigious programs but chose the school they grew up cheering for. Lazard will only play in 1 or 0 bowls in his career but will be remembered as an ISU legend. Same goes for Green only playing in a NCAA tournament or two and maybe a few nationally televised games a year, but he'll be a 4 year starter and will always be remembered for being a 4 star top 100 kid and choosing the Panthers.

All that being said, I still would've liked to see Green chose ISU but much like I understand and appreciate Allens reasons for choosing ISU, I get why hes going to UNI.

He would have made a great Cyclone. I am sure he will be a thorn in our side a time or two as a Panther. But I respect him wanting to be the hometown boy.

Good luck to you, Mr. Green.

We need Harris.

Sucks that even the decent instate talent that stays in Iowa usually goes to Iowa or UNI, and the few really prime recruits the state produces end up at KU or UNC. :(

Makes me appreciate Lazard now, though, @Messi. He could have played in a playoff or two by now if had played his cards right and helped the right school just enough.

Best of luck to him, and honestly probably the best fit. It's clear we were going after other guys harder.

As a competitor, you'd think it would be tough to play against things called Illinois State, Evansville, and Loyola night in and night out.

Solid comparison. It sucks for us, but it's true.

He is not wasting his talent. Most likely not an NBA kid. get's to spend time with his dad while in college. Free Education. UNI makes the tourney a lot.

I would have liked to see him playing for ISU but can't fault him for playing for his dad and hometown team. He obviously has a long standing relationship with the entire staff an is comfortable playing in the MVC.
Good luck to him.
No reason to be upset on here, this was always going to be the result of his recruitment.

We'll see if his dad is there in 5 years- he was in the final three for UW-Milwaukee back in June. Maybe dad will stay now.

A little surprised how many people with the 'he gets to play with his dad' line.

Did anyone here choose college based on the opportunity to get to see their parent(s) everyday?

There was literally a college across the street from my parents house. I could throw a baseball and hit the dorms. You better believe that was on my short list of " never even taking a visit".
