Okay, I know I don't post much. However, I have been on this site everyday (like most of you) for about 5 years straight. (So I have an unearned sense of entitlement about this thread) - Shout out to you recent college grads that are experiencing your first college football season outside of Ames! (Are people still shouting out to other people?)
Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. This hype train thing.
I know many of you -very vocal- subscribers are quite guarded going into this football season. I understand! Being a third generation Cyclone I know the pain! My dad told me last year, that he stopped watching football games because it just hurt too bad. I hated to admit it, but last year I finally started to see what he meant. (Kansas game)
So now. On to this year... HOW ARE YOU NOT EXCITED?!!
We have kids that started on defense last year that are third string this year! (second string now according to the latest depth chart). The culture has changed, the O line is (on paper) the best line we have had in a long time. According to Athlon, the 30th best receiving corps in the United States, a veteran QB, and to top it all off.. Marky Mark is now in his second year.... which I guess is important (I am sure you have all already read the earlier threads showing how that is relevant).
Also, in my excitement I decided to go back and re-watch most of the games that are posted to Youtube, and I have one major conclusion. THEY WERE'NT THAT BAD! Okay, yes. they were still losses, but if you change ONE horrible call vs. K- state, stop ONE final drive vs. Texas, Those are won. West Virginia, and Tech were easily in reach, and North Dakota state was a stupid loss. (Kansas should be on here too, but that might have been the worst game I have ever watched).
This is all with a rag-tag group of a team that apparently had a bad attitude for most of the season.
Something is different this year. I don't know what, but I like it. So, If we need a conductor for this Hype train, I am up for the job. I encourage you all to join me.
But as the title states:
Bring your own nut cup.
GO CYCLONES!
