Yeah the announcers on Sat said he had scouts looking at him now for a late round draft pick. I never thought of the fact that his body isn’t nearly at beat as everyone else is gonna be at that LB spot coming out of college.

I don't know if he'll get drafted, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he's in an NFL training camp next August and on a practice squad to start the season. It's become pretty clear that he has some real potential at LB. We'll see what the last half of the season brings. What should be scary to upcoming opponents is that he hasn't even leveled off yet. He's gotten better every week.

Football Guy of the Week poll. For those of you that don't listen, this is one of the most popular sports podcasts in the country. (obviously not for their journalistic prowess)

I'm sorry that your cardinal and gold blinders don't let you see that Joel Lanning, while a great teammate and good football player, is not even in the same league as the Heisman Trophy. He's getting headlines for being a great teammate and moving from QB to LB and being willing to step back in as a QB in spots, but to even think he's a top 5 linebacker in the Big 12 is crazy, let alone the best player in college football.

Didn't say he's a Heisman candidate.

Your intention was to solely bring down the thread.

If Joel Lanning planned his own surprise party he'd be so good at it that he'd still be surprised.

Joel Lanning's game Saturday was an all-time Cyclone football single-game type performance. He is already sacrificing so much to the program. Hard not to think if he leads the team back to a bowl game this year and continues to perform so well on defense and offense that he will have to be in the all-time Cyclone conversation. The two-way player is just so rare these days and to do it well at 2 very significant positions....wow!

So lucky to have a guy like Lanning on the team.

Not arguing that. Look at what you wrote about tackles. To assume they have little to no value, while understanding where your coming from, is quite radical. There’s a lot to unpack in the value of tackle stat but saying it doesn’t have value makes very little sense.
