I think you hit it on the head. I can see Niang on the 1st team but I have a feeling Morris will 3rd team. I hope I'm wrong. Just a feeling I have.

I can't see how Monte can be let off the first team, especially how well he has played the last third of the Big12 season. Here would be my All-Big12 first team

PG Monte Morris
WG Buddy Hield
WF Le'Bryan Nash
PF Rico Gathers & Perry Ellis

A few others have said this combo already, but here's mine:

Staten
Hield
Ellis
Gathers
Niang

Not sure if these are really the 5 best players in the league, but a little hype from the media goes a long way in deciding who gets these awards. If you watch any given Big XII game, it's hard not to think these are the players most hyped up for all conference selections by the broadcasting crews.

Anyone want to take a stab at who may be All conference? We probably have three candidates with Monte, Georges and Jameel.

I'd guess it will look something like this:

Gathers
Niang
Hield
Forte
Morris

I could also see Ellis, McKay and maybe Nash also being considered.

Ellis is 1st team, probably POTY. Don't see Forte getting it over Nash. I think Monte is deserving, but Stanten may be on there due to being a senior. Monte is definitely 2nd team. I think McKay makes 3d team at a minimum.

We need a poll with up to 5 votes. Make it so it isn't what you predict but what it should be. Then we can name our own CF All Big 12 team.
My predictions are :
Ellis
Hield
Niang
Staten
Gathers

My picks would be:
1st team:
Morris
Staten
Hield
Ellis
Gathers

2nd team:
Mason
Foster
Oubre
Niang
McKay

3rd Team:
Forte
Prince
Thomas
Nash
Spangler

I think ISU screwed up too many games to get Niang/Morris both first team.

My guess is Morris will get 2nd team, Niang gets 3rd team.

McKay with a chance to get newcomer?

So I checked out the "conference games only" statistics on Big 12's site and there are some interesting tidbits on there.

1. Jameel is our best free throw shooter in conference play at 65.2% and 15th overall in conference! (min. 2.5 made per game). 2nd in blocks, 3rd in rebounds
2. Niang is top 10 in pts and assists and top 20 in rebounds while also 2nd in conf. in 3P%
3. Morris 2nd in steals, 2nd in FG% (!) and leads assists and assists to TOs while also being 11th in pts and 2nd in minutes played

Is there a site with efficiency stats for college players? I can't imagine too many players are more effective per possession/touch than Morris.

I don't see how you leave Morris off first team and Jameel off second team. Niang could go either way. Hield or Ellis could get player of year. Staten has a good stat line but I honestly thought it would be better.

Problem is voters don't go as in depth as this.
