Driving to Muscatine, it was Iowa's matchup against Minnesota the whole time. The other time I listened to it, they were talking about who was the greatest Iowa QB of all time. They briefly discussed the NHL opener and MLB Playoffs but they didn't even say Iowa State or the Cyclones

Since ISU had already played that week, Iowa was the only major team in the state to focus on. As said above, they are usually very fair with their coverage of both schools. I enjoy the extra stuff they do from time to time (3 point play, guess who's birthday), as long as it's a small diversion and doesn't take up too much time. They are really the only local hosts that I can listen to for any length of time. The rest either suck, are openly anti-ISU, or just plain boring.

Having Tana on, however, has to go. She is just awful, and I just don't see there is that many listeners out there that want to hear her.

Streaming with my smart phone has greatly improved my sports talk listening. Mike and Mike in the morning, the Tony Kornheiser for the sports and current topics, then finish it off with the Dan Patrick podcast of the days show.

AM 1490 is ESPN radio. This is "the new Jock". Signal strength is horrible though. I try once in a while to see what Marty is blowing up about....but half the time can't get a decent signal.

I have a more favorable view of local radio than many others here. REally like Murph and Andy and for the most part, Miller and Brinson. I put up with T & T and Out of Bounds.

The way I see it, even the so-so shows are still talking local sports and I'm always pleasantly surprise when I hear something to the affect, " up after the break, we'll be talking to <insert Walters, Pollard, Hoiberg, Chris Williams, etc. etc.>".

Murph and Andy are about as fair covering both teams as there is in the Des Moines market. I don't understand why some think they are Clone/hawk homers

I think Murph and Andy do a decent job discussing both schools. It is getting old listening to Murph rag on fans about accusing him of being biased though. If you listen to a lot of sports talk radio, they are a good break, there are only so many stories to fill the 24 hr news cycle.

The 1460 morning show is brutal to listen to as a Cyclone fan. Thursdays at 7:40ish is good for the beer with Bruno segment though.
