The Des Moines Register is a bunch of whining Hawk fans from what I can tell. Am I the only one who thinks that almost every post is a disguised slight to Iowa State? Their "Cyclone fever ignites" video is more of a sore loser review of the season. The only word that comes to mind to describe them is d#)*#bags. I have them on my facebook feed and they seem to **** me off with every post. Am I the only one who thinks this?

This is what I don't get about the Rag. By now you have to realize while their are more Iowa fans than ISU fans, that gap is as small as it has ever been. So why not get your coverage and writing to stop slanting Iowa's way. You would especially think they would do this, considering declining readership and the overall death of the newspaper industry. But I guess you can't ask a zebra to change his stripes.

To be fair, Iowa thinks the Rag has a biased toward Iowa St, so I guess we can all agree that it's just a terrible paper.

P.S. There's a pretty good chance Randy Pete will read this thread.

Yes, the newspaper has a true interest in creating a slight in something you enjoy and it is in no way you just looking for reasons to disagree with them. It's not all in your head and it takes a completely well adjusted person to come to the conclusion that you have found. Keep fighting that good fight.

My first question was to ask if you just got here. Obviously you've been around here for a while, so I assume you are reaching for a bit of hyperbole with your post, or you should have included a jimlad.

I thought we were boycotting them anyways.

That Drake game highlight video is hilarious. Let's take some random clips and make a video!

I have no idea what you mean by this. There were no "highlights" from the football season. Biggest news of that period was JP at the mic. They have a video of the Sweet 16 run and a bit of the Hilton Madness. Not sure what the sore spot is? They didn't include the whoop down of iowa?

I will say this - that video of the "Iowa State dominates Drake" is HORRIBLE. My 12 y/o niece could put together a better video with her phone.

I agree though - the Rag is terrible paper. The journalists for the most part suck, the information is terrible and often incomplete. The editing is atrocious. And now that they are really nothing more than an outlet for USA today, they should just fold altogether.

There are two reasons for the Iowa slant. (1. Controversy helps sell papers and (2. What other jobs are there for English majors but newspapers or McDonalds. Iowa fans are already stirred up by the ###### of their MBB team.

You could call it a rundown of controversial events from the season... I actually thought that the Drake video was highlights from Drake. It showed most of our missed shots and that's about it.

As a kid growing up in an era where newspapers still rocked (1960s) it is sad for me to see what has happened to the Register and Gazette. Everyday at study hall in Manchester I'd be in the library reading both of them and whatever news magazines were there. Back in the day the Register had a fine national reputation. When I return to Iowa for visits these days the paper isn't even really worth purchasing. When I do grab one, it's like "where's the rest of the paper?"

With that said, I am lucky enough to still be able to subscribe to a decent paper up north here. The Strib has had it's ups and downs (IMHO it's currently UP) and it's still something I want to subscribe to even in the big old digital age.

Any time there is a game day where ISU wins and IA loses, look at the headlines. It will be something to the effect of "ISU sneaks by with late comeback" vs. "IA lets one slip away" The way the headlines completely miss how the actual games play out anymore is daily comedic relief for me.
