Return fraud has to be killing on line retailers. I recently ordered a Vacuum Sealer ($140). It had a slight defect so I called the company. Customer Service told me to cut the cord off and send her a picture. She sent me a new one but it was the wrong model.

Called company again. She said she would send me a new one. I asked if she wanted the second one back as it was still in unopened box. She said to give it to a friend. Does it really cost a company that much to process a return?

Sweet deal for you!

We live about 2 blocks from a Kohl's, The way my wife shops on Amazon, I see this in our future going to Kohl's.

Years ago my HP desktop kept getting the blue screen of death. It was still under warranty and I called. After all the stupid questions like "Is it plugged in?" "Have you tried rebooting?" They decided to send me a power supply. I put it in and of course still get the blue screen of death. They overnighted me a box to ship it back. They sent it back and all they had done was reformat the hard drive or put a new one in. I had to start over from new. Halfway through all the windows updates you guessed it, blue screen of death. They sent someone to my house to put in a new motherboard.
I would think just sending me a new one would have been a whole lot cheaper.

Getting back on track, I noticed an Amazon Locker at a local grocery store. I guess you can have stuff delivered to the locker and they just send you a key code to punch into the keypad to open the locker and get your stuff. That would be a nice option to keep the porch pirates at bay.

So, you can return items without packaging ... but ... will the process the return on the spot? (like, credit your account or credit card right away?) Or are they just shipping it for you back to Amazon?

I bought a car seat from Amazon, then about a week later noticed it was listed for like $10 less. So I chatted customer service and asked for a price adjustment. They said they couldn't. The item was eligible for free returns, so I sent it back and ordered another at the lower price. So they paid to ship 2 car seats when they could've just credited me the difference.

This is my major question as well. If they process the return and credit your card right away, then this is a huge benefit IMO. I envision a future Kohls that will have many of the popular Amazon items in stock to offer not only returns but exchanges on the spot as well.
