If this has already been posted, than I apologize. I know it was mentioned that he won an award for Offensive Player in Central Florida, but what I hadn't seen is who he beat for the award.

Dee Hart and Jeff Driskel

Demetrius Hart - Yahoo! Sports
Jeff Driskel - Yahoo! Sports

Both players are ranked #1 in the COUNTRY at their positions. And Richardson beat them out. Pretty impressive.

Congratulations to Sam, with the year he and his team have had I'm sure it's well deserved. Can't wait till he's helping our program to new heights.

It might not mean that he's a better player, but that his TEAM had more success.

You know, like the Heisman usually is?

Eh, I am going to check but I'm pretty sure Dee Harts team didn't lose and they won a lot of 7 on 7 games as well.

Edit: They haven't lost. They have one game left. They will win. Their roster is stacked.

Looks like he finished #17 in the Orlando Super 60

Sentinel's 2011 Central Florida Super60 - OrlandoSentinel.com

Excited to see him as a Cyclone!

understand the comment on the award going to the best player on the best team, but this kid is really good and will be an outstanding QB for us.

Are we saying he's the #1 recruit because of an award? I don't think so. I think we're saying he's a really good player to have won such an award, and to be mentioned in the same league as those #1 recruits means good things for us.

Agreed, and also that maybe he's better than scouts thought early in the year and we could be getting a better player than what his *'s might indicate.

Why Sam Richardson for this award ? Speculation on my part; but, it may be partly due to his plays impact on his team. Dee Hart had a monster year at RB. He has been selected Class 6A Player of the Year. However, he plays on a team that is loaded (talent-wise) from top to bottom. Jeff Driskel also had an exceptional year (statistic-wise); but, it didn't necessarily translate to wins for his Hagerty team. Sam Richardson (as has been eluded to in previous posts) was the only returning starter on the Winter Park offense. Ten new guys. And Sam QB'd them to a 11-1 season record. Sam's stats were also very, very good.

Sam is due congratulations on an outstanding senior year.

Not sure whether that Central Florida Top 60 list has been updated, because SR was listed 17th preseason.
