The seemed so unfair and WV slanted I'm still steaming about it. I hope they never officiant 1 of our games again. They were NOT calling things the same both ways.

Luckily it didn't cost us the game, but yes, officiating was lopsided. I almost assumed a foul would be called on ISU every defensive possession, while we would get mauled on offense and nothing would get called.

There was definitely some head scratcher calls down the stretch. Is there not a vertical rule in college like there is in the NBA? Nader and Hogue's foul in the final minute looked pretty aggregious.. I'm just thankful we won. We have played two true road games this year and both Performances have been pretty impressive.

This was one of the worst officiated games we've had in a win. WVU didn't really do anything better that is considered "basketball" yet it was a one point game because of lopsided fouls. It's hard for me to believe WVU will ever foul less than the other team in all 18 Big 12 games, they certainly didn't foul less than ISU tonight and yet somehow were called for less.

Paul Jansen will do a minimum of 4 more games for ISU this year...
Isn't Janssen the doosh with Hawkeye vanity plates?

Staten with ZERO fouls, and we get whistled with double our season average/game? what a joke

ESPN did artful job of not replaying Hogue's fifth foul since it was all ball.

Did he even get ball? Looked to me like he just blew past without touching anything.

Also LOL that they played that slugfest without Staten getting a single foul. We will blow these guys out of the water in Hilton if they try pressing like that playing without the refs in their pocket.

My wife (comes from a hawkeye family, but slowly converting) while watching:

"How come they (WV) can just slap our arms the whole game. Isn't that what a foul is?"

Yes dear, yes. That is the exact definition of a foul.

Yes, I hesitate to even call that game or the SC game "basketball" game. Our guys get mugged with and with out the ball and no call. Martin and Huggi just play a method of fouling constantly and dare the refs to call 50% of them. Get the other team frustrated and watch them foul and get everyone called. No way, Monte and Dustin should have fouled out. I found it nice they never replayed Dustin's 5th foul.

More than anything it was just incredibly one sided. We couldn't breath on WVU and on back to back possessions Nader and BDJ got hit at the rim with no call, that was in a pretty critical stretch.

If WVU couldn't win this one at home with the refs gift wrapping it...they're a good team, probably top 25, but they have zero chance of winning the Big 12.

There is no way that Monte and Hogue had 10 fouls to Staten's zero. It was as about as obvious as home cooking gets in terms of the foul situation.

My thoughts ....

1) I completely agree that the calls were against us

2) pretty easy to say I have a personal bias being a cyclone fan - every fan will ultimately feel cheated by refs at some point in every game they watch in which their team is playing.

3) in defense of the refs ... it's tough to see everything when you're sprinting up and down the court ... tired ... and having to see through guys a foot taller/wider than you ... that being said it's still your job to call it right. We're also very privileged to have the camara views, angles, replay etc ...

4) lots of non cyclone fans, even ESPN has picked up on ISU being hosed in multiple games in multiple sports in the last couple years.

5) In tonight's game I found it amazing how many times WV was able to get away with mugging us but then we would get called for such a small amount of contact. What we were called on were fouls but the amount of non calls on them were atrocious.
