It is a stupid arguement. A win or loss against a Big 12 opponent is 100% better than a win or loss over say, UNI or Arkansas State. Many hok fans just like to try and discredit ISU in any way, shape or form. It's a dumb arguement that only they (that fanbase) agree with.

Just like when ISU fans try to discredit the U of I (relevancy in basketball, horrible attendance, hurting ISU's RPI (John Walters)), etc...

It's what rivals do. I'd think it would be pretty boring if everybody was pooping rainbows.

Ya, cause sneaking past UNI and ARK-Pine Bluff State is so much more impressive than being lowly Iowa State, unless of cause you are not ready for the game at actually loose to the Cyclones. :biglaugh:

I must have weird friends who are Hawkeye fans. Every one of them say that the ISU game is the biggest of the year - that they'd rather beat us over anyone else.

I'd rather not have to play Iowa every year, simply because I think it limits our scheduling opportunities. It's pretty rare that teams schedule 2 BCS caliber opponents in the non-con, and so we get the Illinois States, Ohios, etc to come to Ames.

I'd much rather see us schedule a team from the SEC, ACC, etc. Just a matter of personal preference I guess.

That's different for the simple reason that it's one game out of 30ish and you can make the tourney with W's over terrible teams. In football, you have very little room for error, especially if you're a BCS bound team. So, my point stands. If ISU was such a concern, then why schedule the Sister's of the Poor twice a year?

I, for one, love hearing from hawk fans on all matter of things. I think we should all consider ourselves very lucky over here on CF that we have hawk fans that care enough to come onto this cyclone website and hang around just looking for issues into which they can insert their superior knowledge. In fact, I'm hoping to start consulting hawkeyes on almost everything in my life so that I know the correct answer. Answers to questions such as:

--what should I eat for breakfast?
--do these pants make me look fat?
--was there really a 2nd gunman on the grassy knoll?
--do you have to have a permit to live in that van down by the river?

depends on how much the hawk has been drinking. :biglaugh::jimlad:

I don't know many Iowa fans that would actually want the ISU game to stop.

I'm a fan of the game.

Maybe so, but you know just as well as I do that there are always threads on HR about this very subject and many (most?) want it gone because 'there is no benefit'. That said, everyone that I've talked to (friends, etc...), loves the game and wouldn't want it to go away.

I am so happy to see this thread on here. After months of threads complaining about the basketball team, finally we're back to complaining about Iowa instead. It's making me very nostalgic. Oh...simpler times....
