Anyone else worried about the way Jantz runs with the ball?

I keep watching the game highlights and other videos and every time I see Jantz scrambling, he doesn't secure the ball, just holds it in one hand. I hope this doesn't come back to bite us...

That's actually for the best because it leaves him open to throw the ball.

He does a good job tucking it once he's past the LOS. He holds it out when he still has the option to pass.

He's also good at avoiding hits. He ducks out of bounds or dives/slides a lot when he sees guys closing on him, so it's not like he's getting beat on too bad. Much less chance of the ball coming out when he's not getting hit too hard.

I would be more worried if Jantz ran without the ball.

Not worried about it at all, in fact, I love that he ALWAYS has his eyes downfield, still looking to make a throw as he scrambles. It's been a long time since we had a QB do that.

Unrelated to the OP, but I like that in the first two game highlights you can see Jantz going through his progression on most plays. At the very least, he stares down the FS before he moves to a WR. Every highschool QB in the nation is taught to do that, but we haven't always had QBs here at ISU that would consistently do that.

Also, when he runs, he either gets out of bounds or slides before taking a big hit. When he had the long first down run in the last overtime (i think) he went out of bounds at the 4 yard line. If you watched the replay, it looked like he wanted to jump 3 hawk defenders to win but stepped out of bounds.
