Are the new 4 schools guaranteed entry into the Big 12?

I don’t think it will be less money. The Pac 12 still has better brands than anything the big 12 has. Add in the best four big 12 schools and it’s a better product than anything in the big 12 can put together.
Better brands == more TV revenue. The TV people aren’t dumb and the numbers don’t lie. From what I’ve seen, the new look PAC-10 is looking at $20m per team while the new look Big XII should be around $40m. Old look Big XII was about the same amount above the old look PAC.

So do we have a resident Fox and ESPN source on call to tell us what adding a particular team will be worth, or are we just winging it? Do we tell these teams the actual figures they can expect or do we stretch it a little to get them to sign up?

The only fact I really want to know about is which teams in the B12 do not vote for a GOR or pact. Because it's exactly those teams hunting for a new location.

The new commissioner is in with Fox.

Too much bad blood with ESPN?
I mean I’m personally not opposed to ESPN if they are the highest bidder, I was just saying our newly hired commissioner has a good relationship with Fox.

Personally I think our rights will be Fox, CBS, and someone like Amazon/paramount+.. in no particular order for tiers.

It seems that Oregon and Washington aren't coming, though I don't really see the value of Washington. I personally like Stanford better than Washington. Stanford is pretty good in a lot of different sports.

I much prefer we cherry pick which PAC 12 teams we want instead of agreeing to a merger. However, if we do agree to a merger, it better be on the Big 12's terms.

It was only a year ago when the Big 12 conference blew up and we asked the PAC 12 about a possible merger, and the PAC 12 told us to pound sand.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, we're the ones bargaining from a position of strength.

ESPN can go f*ck a flying doughnut. If we can get a great deal with fox, a T2/3 streaming deal with Amazon or someon and have next to nothing with espn then great.

Washington legislature has already announced it will introduce a bill to tie Washington and WSU together. Not sure when or if it will pass. Have heard nothing about Oregon. This would be bad for the B12, imo, as it might keep the P12 alive.
If the Big 12 convinces Arizona, ASU, Colorado, and Utah to join, Washington and Oregon have three options:

1. Hope and pray the B1G has an invite (although I would think unlikely that they would extend invites to Washington State and Oregon State)

2. Ask for an invite to the Big 12 (Not sure if Big 12 would want Washington State and Oregon State but more likely than B1G -- also don't think Washington/Oregon would really have very much leverage at this point)

3. Go down with the ship (Pac 12 will backfill with Mountain West schools and should have a media contract that's far less than the Big 12)

Oh yeah I guess there's an option that they could go independent too I guess lol

4. Go down with the ship...but get the rest of the conference to sign off on unequal shares.

I don't think there's any reason NOT to bring in the new 4 schools even if it was easy to back out.

BYU - Should have been added IMMEDIATELY when Nebraska/CU left anyway. If we hadn't added them Pac would be on phone with them...and maybe they are anyway. The religion/academics stuff is out the window for everybody now. Even in the days of counting pieces of pie, they always brought as much as they would have taken in their cut. They'd have actually been a straight up upgrade over CU and who knows where they'd be by now.

Houston - Same thing, if we hadn't added, Pac would be on phone with them and maybe are anyway.

UCF - a wild card. They have higher enrollment and ticket sales than majority of Pac 12. Worth the risk. There is a very slim chance Miami ends up on the outside looking in depending on how much you belive "x team doesn't increase our average payout". So there's potential they could be there with UCF.

Cincy - Getting them as top 10 football team, traditional basketball power, partner for WVU...helps us make pitch to ACC leftovers after SEC and Big Ten crush them. Perhaps teams like Pitt, Louisville or VaTech come on board when Big 12 is obviously better than ACC remnants. Obviously those teams would come if ACC was reduced to 6-8 teams, but with WVU/Cincy maybe they all come simply because FSU and Clemson leave the ACC.

The days of thinking we need to limit pieces of a pie are OVER. It's all about making sure the Big 12 is the obvious choice after the SEC and Big Ten. Adding the new 4 helps us. Adding any Pac teams except for WSU/Ore St does the same. Need to crush the Pac now and be the landing spot for the best ACC leftovers in a few years. I don't even feel bad about it after what the conference has endured for over a decade.

I genuinely think all current 12 would be better off committing to B12.

KU and might have a veeeeeeeeeeery slim chance at B10 but imho it's not worth the chance they have at guaranteeing the Big 12 is the #3 money conference. Bringing in Arizona and someday ACC basketball leftovers will guarantee the league stays top 2 in basketball most years.

WVU might be thinking the ACC looks good when they get an invite after Clemson/FSU leaves but there's a good chance the Big 12 is simply a better money maker and geography is out the window.

I know some WVU fans think they have some SEC appeal, but that's every bit as far flung as ISU to Big Ten. The SEC would probably take an Arizona school or ACC school we aren't even thinking about before they take WVU. They have every Big 12 school they want now...and in hindsight I'm not sure they really even care about getting Mizzou.

That’s with Oklahoma State on board. Take Oklahoma State out of the SEC gets weird. take the next top four revenue generating big 12 schools add them to the Pac-10 and that is a better product than anything the big 12 could put together.
So take our best 4 teams and give them to another conference, that conference would be better than the depleted conference? Give the big 12 OSU, UM, PSU and whoever else and we'd be better than the Big 10. Seems like a silly argument.

I like the idea of taking arizona schools with colorado and utah. I wouldnt mind taking memphis with their fedex backing and soon-to-be infrastructure enhancements. Can we trade WVU for Louisville?

I still think the B12 might be more fragile than the PAC12 at this point. What if SEC invites Oklahoma St? At that point we are the leftovers. Anyone with a pulse left goes to the PAC12. We get stuck with six or so schools and look to add teams like Memphis and are on par with and AAC at that point. I’m not playing doomsday or saying this is the most likely scenario. But it’s a scenario.
This new commissioner is basically going to make or break the conference at this point. If serious calls haven’t already been made to half the PAC12, we’re probably ******.

Lol this is so incredibly dumb from the get go.

I think we grab Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah.

Maybe Oregon and Washington fall into our lap if they don't really have another viable option.

Then when the ACC blows up, we will grab some of the leftovers (probably like Pitt, Louisville, etc.). Then WVU will get some of their rivals back, and we'll have a pretty solid conference coast-to-coast.
