I don't think there's any reason NOT to bring in the new 4 schools even if it was easy to back out.
BYU - Should have been added IMMEDIATELY when Nebraska/CU left anyway. If we hadn't added them Pac would be on phone with them...and maybe they are anyway. The religion/academics stuff is out the window for everybody now. Even in the days of counting pieces of pie, they always brought as much as they would have taken in their cut. They'd have actually been a straight up upgrade over CU and who knows where they'd be by now.
Houston - Same thing, if we hadn't added, Pac would be on phone with them and maybe are anyway.
UCF - a wild card. They have higher enrollment and ticket sales than majority of Pac 12. Worth the risk. There is a very slim chance Miami ends up on the outside looking in depending on how much you belive "x team doesn't increase our average payout". So there's potential they could be there with UCF.
Cincy - Getting them as top 10 football team, traditional basketball power, partner for WVU...helps us make pitch to ACC leftovers after SEC and Big Ten crush them. Perhaps teams like Pitt, Louisville or VaTech come on board when Big 12 is obviously better than ACC remnants. Obviously those teams would come if ACC was reduced to 6-8 teams, but with WVU/Cincy maybe they all come simply because FSU and Clemson leave the ACC.
The days of thinking we need to limit pieces of a pie are OVER. It's all about making sure the Big 12 is the obvious choice after the SEC and Big Ten. Adding the new 4 helps us. Adding any Pac teams except for WSU/Ore St does the same. Need to crush the Pac now and be the landing spot for the best ACC leftovers in a few years. I don't even feel bad about it after what the conference has endured for over a decade.
