Iowa State goes bowling
iowa-state-cyclones.png
Things are looking up in Ames. Matt Campbell is bringing a new energy and you can sense the optimism around the program. Jacob Park provides solid leadership under center and wide receiver Allen Lazard is a matchup problem for almost every team Iowa State will face. A seasoned and athletic defense led by quarterback-turned-linebacker Joel Lanning will surprise a lot of people. A difficult schedule is dotted with just enough winnable games to get the Cyclones to six wins, sending their party-crazed student body and fan base on a road trip during the upcoming holiday season.

Texas won't have a winning record

Despite Tom Herman taking over in Austin and the Longhorns being back in the preseason Top 25 of the major polls, Texas football is still a year or so away from being relevant again. For starters, it's another year of learning yet another new offensive system. Combine that with not having the type of quarterback Herman has historically had when his teams were at their best. The defense was not great last year, and it wasn't all due to coaching. This team just isn't ready to compete with the likes of some of the high-octane offenses it will face in conference – not to mention Week 3 foe USC. Texas will finish 6-6 in Herman's first season.

^^I agree with this.^^ But I'm not sold on Baylor like they are.

Agree that ISU getting six is least outrageous. Actually, BU winning 10 strikes me as happy talk. UT could certainly have a losing record. And oSu beating OU twice isn't out of the question, although I believe the Pokes are getting more love than's rational at this point in time. But if they beat OU twice, oSu will be in the CFP.

Call me crazy, but I think we beat Baylor this year. We had them on the ropes last year and let 'em back up. They've got a new coach, and will probably have to pee in a cup now. Our team has gotten deeper and added another year of experience.

I don't think it's crazy at all. We should have beaten them last year. We're another year better under Campbell, meanwhile Baylor football's world has been rocked.

Baylor could be complete garbage but I could still see us losing there. Too many bad memories of us getting pounded by bad Baylor teams on the road.

Dumb question, but wouldn't they have to be 6-7/7-6? I don't see a 6-win Texas team getting left out of bowls.

Baylor 10 wins is by far and away the most outrageous.

I thin we surprised both them and OSU last year. This year it's on the road and we will not sneak up on them. I have that one as a loss. Of course I hope I'm wrong
