My wife and I were just gifted tickets for Saturday by her uncle who is a season ticket holder for hawk football.

It was a super awesome gesture, but I find myself having a bit of trepidation about what I may experience in Iowa City while wearing cardinal and gold and cheering on the clones deep in enemy territory. Is anyone else in this boat, or have made the trek to Iowa City for this game and lived to tell the tale?

Everybody else will give their own experience with gameday stuff so let me give you some other experiences. The traffic. It's a NIGHTMARE getting out of there.
Don't even consider Melrose.
Don't go to Airliner, it's over rated. Go to Shorts for a good burger.

Been there once for a CyHok game.
Was the Seneca game. Great game!
However….
Will not go back again. The Hok fans were horrible. Even the old bastards sitting behind us.
1st half they were obnoxious, 2nd Half ISU comeback win….
oooh boy!!!
Man I might seriously have to consider getting rid of these after reading yours and a few other comments

Only CyHawk I've been to at Kinnick was 2014.

Went in expecting horror stories, but as alluded to above if you're not being a dbag you'll be fine outside of some ribbing/trash talking and "**** State" - which I did expect going in. If you can banter back and forth you'll be fine.

Though I think it helped that we were so bad there were no expectations for the game, so that probably subdued it. Turned out to be the Cole Netten game. Successful trip.

Biggest prick fanbase in college football, do not drive you vehicle over there if you have anything Cyclone on it. You will get a lot of **** ISU yells coming your way if you are wearing Cyclone gear. Stay away from groups of students and younger fans as you walk to and from the stadium. Go watch, do not say much and you will be fine, but every time you cheer for ISU, there will be plenty yelling you to sit down and shut up.

I will never go again to a Cy Squawk game in Iowa ******.

My advice would be to park at the Hancher Auditorium lots. Used to be free parking and and free shuttle to and from the stadium, but it isn't too bad of a walk if you don't mind walking uphill. Not sure if that has changed or not

I'll be there as well. It's not that bad if you have thick skin. Did get a full beer can chucked at me 10 years ago but that was after we won and the guy missed me by about 10 feet paying tribute to their QB play. I will say if we do win, don't instigate anything because a fight could happen, but if you get **** first, rub their face in the loss.

I’ve been to 3 of them, 2 wins and a loss. The 1st time was the Seneca come from behind win. i was threatened with getting tossed over the wall. I guess I was a little too exuberant with the come back.

Don't be a douche and you'll be just fine. There will be some ribbing and a drunk student or two screaming 'F State' but just roll with it.
