Austin/charelston, sc/ Denver??

Looking for a little bit of insight from fellow clone fans. My wife and I are looking to make a move in the next year from the great state of Iowa, and have narrowed it down to Austin, Tx/ Charleston, SC/ Denver, CO.

I am in sales in insruance, and she works as a teacher. Was wondering if anyone had any insight or advice on these three places? I have been to Denver and Charelston, but never Austin although she has and loved it. She has not been to Denver.

Looking for a place with lots of things to do, and a good energy, but also a place where one could start a family.

I visited Charleston, an it is a cool place, but horribly hot and humid. We went there in July, and moment you hit the outside, you were covered in sweat.

In my opinion Denver and it's not close. Mountains. Great weather. Even in the winter, sure they get lots of snow but the next day it could be 60. And if you're into craft beer there aren't many other states that have the breweries that Colorado does.

Austin is fun too, good BBQ there. The party atmosphere is pretty fun there too.

Born & raised in CO, so I am quite biased, but I would pick Denver, in a heart beat.

I've only been to Denver........but I would probably pick Denver. Check out rankings of best cities for young families/professionals, etc. I think Denver or nearby cities like Boulder or Colorado Springs make those lists a lot.

Hmmm, when I do a coupe cursory searches on it, Charleston pops up as well.

Austin isn't bad as Texas goes but the hands down winner is Denver, because of the people. But YRMV.

Denver. Well, for living I'd prefer Golden, but the Denver area in general. Golden proper has enough of that "small town" feel while still being a 10-15 minute straight shot on the freeway to downtown Denver.

Visited Austin in college and Charleston in high school, so limited time there but I've lived in Colorado for a while now including 6-months in the Golden area. Denver & its surroundings have so much to offer. Mountains, arts, hiking, biking, skiing, museums, professional athletics, clean air, happy people....I could go on for a while.

Been to Denver numerous times and have been to Austin.

Denver wins my vote.

Austin is a fun city but its surrounded by Texas and filled with Texans.

If you can stand the heat, I would move to Austin in a second. That is one of the great towns in the US.

Have never been to Austin or Charleston, but I live in Denver. As a single person, I think it is wonderful. The weather in the winter is so much better than the Midwest. It gets about the same amount of snow, but there are many more 50 and 60 degree days, and less cloudy days. There is a lot to do. And all of the women are in good shape and they all wear yoga pants.

A negative is that it is very difficult to find a house now. Also, higher taxes than Austin.

Charleston is an AWESOME place.....very underrated. But as an Iowa boy I'm not sure I'd like to live there. And I'm saying that as someone who lived in North Carolina for 5 years. Denver is great. Never been to Austin.

Austin is a neat town, but as was mentioned earlier the main drawback is that it's in Texas. I looked around various Texas cities for a while, and housing is generally cheaper down there for comparable houses in most places (though Austin may not be that way).

Those are three great places.

Denver gets more sunshine per year than any other US city.

That's my vote.
