So when we play good defense in the first half, we win.

Looks like, in the wins, Georges is shooting more, and in the losses, those shots are spread around to other players. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as all that, as teams that beat us have really focused on Georges, so combating that would involve Georges forcing things even more.

The clear takeaway is when we win we play decent first half defense, when we lose we play awful first half D.

Some of that could have to do with better opponents, but not a 12 point swing for one half.

Interesting somewhat related.

If you look up Big 12 and national field goal percentage McKay and Dustin won't be listed even though both would be at the top of the Big 12 and among national leaders. McKay needs to play in 75% of our games which is only possible if we win both tournaments...;-)

Hogue shockingly often doesn't qualify to lead the Big 12 or NCAA in fg% because he doesn't take enough shots, he's right on the edge of it and sometimes appears and sometimes doesn't. Given the fact that we're getting good scoring production from him this is kind of a BS qualifier, if anything it's a credit to Hogue that he scores a lot and hits a high % while not taking a lot of bad shots. The rule was probably made for 7 footers who go 18-24 on a season, not small forwards who take a decent amount of 3s.

McKay would also be among B12 and national leaders in blocks.

I thought it was interesting that the Cyclones take 9.75 less shots in conference games that they win. Most of those shots are 3's. (7.57 less 3pt attempts in conference wins) Then, have 6.86 more FT attempts in conference wins.

Appreciate OP putting this together but I'm curious how BDJ can be shooting .513 for the season but only 41% and 42% in wins and losses?

Probably because this is just conference games.
