Not sure a former Baylor recruit is someone we want on campus

:psmile:

OK. I'll reserve judgement and trust CMC to sift through the grain and the chaff.

Jared Atkinson is a 2016 Baylor WR commit that got released from his LOI and had an ISU offer and not many other good offers. I think maybe an A&M offer, SMU, TxSt too? I'm too lazy to post his rivals page

Yes, please. I would like to order two world-class speedster wide receivers. Could be recruits or current players taking advantage of the soon to be issued waiver of the transfer policy.

Any of these guys have a scholarship available at ISU :plaugh:

But seriously, were we in on any of these guys? None look familiar so the likelihood any come here is very small I am sure.

Any thoughts?

I posted this in the 2017 recruit thread:

Off of the Top 250 list:

(Devernay would help our recent problems at wr losing Wesley)

The best thing that could happen to ISU right now would be for a couple of Baylor's OL to transfer in. Yes, the world class speed WRs would be great, but the immediate need appears to be experienced OL.

According to a story on KXNO's website Bruce Feldman is reporting that Baylor won't allow their incoming Freshman out of their LOI's. Not a good move by Baylor!

Not surprising how one sided these are but how ****** of a deal is it when you don't automatically have an out when the guy who recruited you gets caught up in the middle of a massive cover up and fired.

Top-rated Baylor recruit Devin Duvernay is free to sign elsewhere after the university confirmed Thursday that it failed to submit his NLI paperwork to the Big 12 offices.

Duvernay, ESPN's No. 3-rated wide receiver in the 2016 class, had been seeking a release from his national letter of intent after the sexual assault scandal that has rocked Baylor and cost coach Art Briles his job.
A Baylor spokesman confirmed to ESPN on Thursday that its compliance department has determined that Duvernay does not have a valid NLI and said that information has been relayed to Duvernay's family and the Baylor coaching staff. Susan Peal, the director of the national letter of intent program told ESPN that she could not comment on the specific case.

...
His twin brother, Donovan Duvernay, also signed with Baylor in February. Baylor did send in his NLI, so the family has submitted paperwork to request Donovan's release. They're two of the seven Baylor signees who sources have confirmed are seeking releases from their letters of intent
.

...
TCU and Texas are now considered favorites to land Duvernay

I wonder if the players/families could sue? I know that'd be burden on many families, but wonder what the possibility would be? Misrepresentation by the coaches and staff? Probably make all kinds of cases for cause and changes of contractual terms.

With all that's going on, can't believe Baylor is going to hold kids hostage and doubt they'd go to court to fight it. If I were a parent, I'd be floating that idea just to see if they'd buckle at the PR implications.

This is where the NCAA needs to step in and say "let anyone out, no restrictions."

Sure, but it will also be incredibly easy for just about any school to recruit against that. "Do you really want to go to a school that fires their coach over covering up horrible things, and then wont let you out of your LOI". Baylor is going to be falling into a hole that will take them a long time to climb out of

I though the ESPN article had said that Baylor won't release any LOIs until the new coach gets a chance to meet with the recruits. I can sort of understand that; give the guy a fair chance to try and hold the class together and if he can't convince the players then let them walk. That said, the coaching staff better get on a plane and start because the longer they drag this out the worse they're going to look.

Probably held it up intentionally and didn't tell him so it would be easier to recruit over him if they got an opportunity.

Not sure if serious, but unlikely since he was their top rated recruit, top 5 WR position rank and they filed his twin brothers.
