Max Baer in Cinderella Man
Tom Michaels in Draft Day (AKA the pancake-eating mother ******)
The Blue Bear in Million Dollar Baby (with an honorable mention to the stool)
Good call, Ron Howard really villainized Baer for the purposes of that movie. In real life Baer was pretty much the opposite as how he was portrayed. He was a showman in the ring but he was very gentle and kind outside it. The death of Frankie Campbell really traumatized Baer, he slipped into depression and gave $$$ from his future purses to Campbell's family. The movie also downplayed Baer's pride as a Jewish American. In the Braddock fight there was a white, very noticeable Star of David on one of the legs of Baer's trunks, but in the movie they made it black so it was barely noticeable.
Sorry, I'm a geek for boxing and history. Put the two together and it's game over.
