Big 12 Conference Realignment

I said it in the other thread but no sh*t to his point.

Of course those towns are bigger than ames.

Iowa state will still get 61k up in ames for a game so I dont really get his point.

He’s slob knobbing the SEC to market espn to the fan bases there. Those fan bases eat that up and watch more ESPN to have their balls washed. It’s marketing. Smart really if that’s your end game.

The media in Iowa do a lot of the same things for the hawks.

You’ll still find Iowa fans on forums who honestly believe Big Ten basketball is far tougher than Big 12 basketball. It takes a lot of effort to delude people to that extent.

SEC football is actually legit though, definitely top half. Big Ten basketball is a gambler’s dream picking them to lose in ncaa every single year, gamblers have the media ball washing you mention to thank for that gift.

I've been to games at Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miss St, Ol Miss, USC, Vandy, and Mizz. LSU & Alabama are pretty amazing atmospheres, but Iowa State matches the others very well!

It's been a fun ride! Helps that I'm older (First game in 1971), have lived all over the country (9 states) and once had a traveling job that made is really easy to explore places! Don't get out as much any longer.

Are we still somewhere between that Minnesota/Alabama State Line?

This reminds me of when David Ubben ranked Big 12 atmosphere's 10-15 years ago and put ISU near last (or maybe even dead last) yet he never visited Ames while being ESPN's Big 12 beat writer. I believe WRNL even offered a paid trip for him to come up to a game and he refused. Hilarious to cover a conference, rank atmosphere's when you are judging from TV on 1 or more stadiums.

Clemson had some great teams and Dabo is a good coach, but they'd have minimum 20+ fewer wins in the SEC.

You also can subtract about six wins from every ACC and SEC team for only playing 8 conference games.

Saw the header on the CF main page. I remember how fun it was to go to Colorado back in the Big 8 days. But in my mind and heart I hope they wither on the vine and suck pond water versus re-joining the Big 12. They left, they suck where they are at, and now they want to come back? Must my opinion, but those teams that left can continue to be bottom feeders in their new conferences. (BTW...it's ok to disagree...but I still harbor ill will over the teams that jumped ship for supposed greener pastures).

Saw the header on the CF main page. I remember how fun it was to go to Colorado back in the Big 8 days. But in my mind and heart I hope they wither on the vine and suck pond water versus re-joining the Big 12. They left, they suck where they are at, and now they want to come back? Of all the schools that left, the one I feel the least ill will toward is Colorado. Every other school leaving furthered the impression that the B12 was collapsing, whereas I think CU was really just a reaction to the looming certainty of the Pac-16 and wanting to make sure they had a landing spot. We would have done the same thing if the Big Ten had come calling. Nebraska started the whole fiasco, Missouri and A&M lied and manipulated, obviously we know OU and Texa$. Colorado just kind of quietly left to save their own hide and join a bunch of other league schools who didn’t end up following them. I’m still upset at all of them, of course, but the Buffs make me the least unhappy if they are truly coming back.
