1. ISU - 2-0. Huge win on the road vs WVU. Held serve beating an underrated OSU team. How will KU's lack of guards handle playing @ WV?

2. KU - 2-0. Nice win @ Baylor. Home win vs Tech. ISU gets the nod at #1 because both wins home and away were more impressive.

3. OU - 2-1. Dominating win @ Texas. Beat Baylor at home. Head scratching loss at home to KSU. Can't lose at home. That loss hurts.

4. WVU - 2-1. Road wins @ Tech and @ TCU. Home loss vs ISU. Road wins are impressive, but they were against the bottom of the Big 12. Road games the rest of the way for WVU will be ridiculously tough.

5. Texas - 1-2. Biggest surprise so far. They win @ Tech. But lose at home vs OU and @ OSU.

On paper, ISU is in a great spot. If we can steal the game @ Baylor and take care of KU at home, things will be looking real good in Ames.

6. Baylor
7. OSU
8. KSU
9. TCU
10. Tech

Are we doing this based only on intra-conference results? Or still overall season to this point?

(It would affect how to evaluate it).

I did it just based on the big 12 so far on paper. But there are no ground rules if you have differing opinions.

Totally agree. To me, we have to find a way to go at least 5-4 on the road. If we can somehow go 6-3 on the road and protect the home court, we can bring home the conference title. A 2-0 start would be huge.

I'd go

1. Kansas
2. Oklahoma
3. ISU
4. West Virginia
5. Baylor
6. Texas
7. Kansas State
8. Oklahoma State
9. TCU
10. Texas Tech

I still think at this point we aren't playing our best ball and barely won these two games.. .OU beat texas by a LOT. They get the nod even with the loss in my book.

1. Kansas ... strongest resume so far, finished the job at Baylor, which was ranked coming in; weakest home matchup of season, but won big.
2. Iowa State ... not playing that sharp, but closed the deal in two tight games, one @top 15 team. Stayed tied for 1st.
3. (Tie) Oklahoma ... dominant win at Texas, dragged down by KSU loss and UT losing at OSU.
West Virginia ... loss at home to ISU is fine, road wins were vs. bottom of Big 12.
5. Texas
6. Oklahoma State ... head-to-head win vs. Texas; took ISU to the wire; but UT had better pre-Big 12 results.
7. Baylor ... a win over KU would have lifted Bears quite a bit. Needed OT at TCU, but did win.
8. Kansas State ... win at OU impressive; is it an anomoly?
9. TCU
10. Tech

I'd probably put KSU and OSU ahead of Baylor right now both having a quality win against a top team. I know Texas will be higher but they really can't be put into the top 5 at this point. I think because of how the last decade went KU has to be #1 until they lose. I could easily put Oklahoma higher but with the loss at home they stay below the undefeateds.

1 Kansas
2 Iowa State
3 Oklahoma
4 West Virginia
5 Oklahoma State
6 Texas
7 Kansas State
8 Baylor
9 Texas Christian
10 Texas Tech

I'd still put KU #1 but this win solidly put us as the team to beat them. I never say dethrone because KSU already dethroned them just a couple years ago to anyone who was paying attention.

OSU is going to play a bigger part in what happens than people thought. They played one of their best games, and may not shoot that well at home against us. Our defense tonight was really good. KSU will have its nights, but can't score to keep pace with us. I think the UT predictions were way off. They aren't going to be there. We need to win on the road, and the rest will take care of itself. Game Day at Hilton needs to come off as a win. The regular season title is out there for us to win.

So hard to say at this point. Everyone is dangerous with the possible exception of TTU. Last year a great Cyclone team was destroyed at WVU. Nobody will remember that the fouls were crazy and that it was a tough win in March... A W is a W. Gritty win. If they can play that tough in road games going forward I like our chances of picking off more road wins.

1. Iowa State 12-2 (2-0) Slight edge to Kansas because West Virginia is a better road victory than @Baylor' and Oklahoma State is a better victory over Texas Tech.
2. Kansas 13-2 (2-0) Plenty of good victories in the non-conference, but I want to see what they can do against ISU, WVU, OU, etc.
3. West Virginia 14-2 (2-1) Very good, physical team. Well coached. Need to protect home court though, with 2 home losses.
4. Oklahoma State 12-3 (2-1) Nearly won in Hilton, and defeated a top 10 (perhaps a bit overrated) team. They're playing well right now.
5. Oklahoma 11-4 (2-1) Plenty of good wins, and plenty of bad losses. Very inconsistent. Inconsistency won't win you this conference.
6. Baylor 12-3 (1-2) Not the best start to conference play, but they looked strong in their loss to Kansas, and beat an improved TCU team on the road.
7. Texas 12-4 (1-2) I almost put Kansas State here, but since non-conference factors in I gave the nod to Texas. Did not dominate a Texas Tech team in their lone conference victory, and were dismantled in their two losses. Bad start to conference play.
8. Kansas State 9-7 (2-1) Trending upward, that's for sure. Two straight conference victories. Unfortunately, their non conference has ended any chance at an at-large tourney bid.
9. TCU 13-3 (0-3) Growing pains are tough, but TCU is definitely a much improved team. As shown today, you can't walk into (whatver the hell that high school gym is called) and walk out with an easy win
10. Texas Tech 10-6 (0-3) Life can be tough in the cellar.

West Virginia is a scrappy team that pressures you but they are by far the worst shooting team in the conference. Last in fg% and last in three point fg%. They will pull off a few upsets of good teams this year but don't have the consistency to finish in the Top 4 of the conference. Although maybe they pull into fourth if Texas continues to stink like they have. 1. Kansas 2. ISU 3. Oklahoma. 4. Okie State 5. West Virginia 6. Texas 7. Baylor 8. Kansas State 9. TCU 10. Texas Tech

So is Oklahoma the surprise team of the year? For some odd reason I didn't think they were going to be any good this year. Or did I just totally not know what the h e double hockey sticks what I was talking about?

They have pretty much everyone important back, with a big addition in Thomas.

I think KU will continue to get better, but Texas , not so much. Felix continues to be their go to guy, which in my eyes is a problem.

1. KU. Not too far ahead of ISU at this point.
2. ISU. A win at Baylor would move them to 1.
3. OU. Bad loss to KSU, but still 2 good wins.
4. OSU. Beating Texas moves them up.
5. WVU. Road wins against the two worst teams, home loss against a top team. In front of UT because of record.
6. UT. Not looking good at all.
7. Baylor. Played KU pretty good.
8. KSU. Beating OU was impressive, maybe not as bad as we all thought.
9. TCU.
10. TT.
