While I like to see a big recruiting class, and a great one at that, I am beginning to wonder about the current freshman class.
Could we be losing some guys who didn't like being redshirted? I heard from a friend close to the team that Charles Rogers may be a little discontent. This could be true for others as well.. any thoughts?

If the only thing you're upset about with the program is being redshirted, it doen't make a lot of sense to leave AFTER you've redshirted.

The relation is not that direct. It is more likely it means some upperclassmen will not be back.

But yes, you only have 85, and there is always some loss between seasons.

If they are not all in let them go we will replace them with better recurits the way it looks. We have built up a good depth chart, it is nice to have our get a rs year. The guys that leave are not really mature enough to see the large picture.

Charles Rogers also said on twitter for the people following his twitter to not look too much into his comments because he could be talking about anything. Until I hear from him that he plans to transfer, I would expect him back. Why would a guy who is upset about redshirting, leave to go sit out somewhere else for a year?

I didn't follow recruiting or really even class related red-shirting that much back in the McCarney days. Ive read many posts implying Dan was bad at red-shirting. Any truth to this?

I recall posts claiming Dan would burn a RS year on some playing time and the kid would only play in 1 game or for a handful of snaps.

Seems depth was always an issue with Mac's teams, so its possible some of it was related to that problem.

He was not bad at redshirting as much as it was a constant battle to plug holes in the roster.

I just want to give a shout out to the OP for spelling "losing" correctly.

He doesn't have to sit out if he goes to UNI ya know.

I'm pretty sure he reads this website and speculation of him transferring may have prompted that tweet.

Seems logical to me, there are quite a few players who read it.

This **** again? People love their (made up) rumors.

Random fear driven poster: "OMGZ, Charlie wasn't at 9am music class, A guy I know who hangs out with his friends in Iowa City said he's mad about redshirting, so he is going to transfer to another school and sit out a year."
Other fear driven poster: "Seems legit, must spread to everyone with eyeballs!!!"
