What i said was that i have heard the division changes being talked about for awhile. I agree that pods don't work with 14 but again I haven't heard anything solid on pods just that the current divisions would be going away fairly soon.

Pods are much worse than X protected opponents that vary by school. Say the B1G goes to 3 protected rivalries and rotate through the 10 remaining schools. Iowa can have Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin. Meanwhile Minnesota can have Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan. And you just repeat this process for all 14 schools. No pods needed.
If be interested in how to B1G would counter. For weather reasons, they’d probably need a domed stadium in December. Indianapolis, Detroit, & Minneapolis have domes. Without a dome, there’s plenty of NFL stadium options in Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, KC.
Seems to me a lot of options are being discussed by Presidents & AD's, but each is contingent on certain things happening. So I don't believe what BTM posted is THE WAY forward for the Big10 but one of many possible eventualities.

- If the National Championship Playoff stays at 4 teams, then I definitely see conferences implementing a semi-final/final CCG structure. After all, how else does a conference establish their best team when schools only play 8(or 9) of 15 other conference teams in a season? Plus if a buck can be made, AD's will go that route.
- If the National Championship Playoff expands to 8 or 12 teams, then it seems to me that CCG's don't make sense. Playing 1 or 3 games as part of a CCG series means season ending losses for teams with Playoff aspirations.
- If a 12 team playoff is worth $2B, then getting 3-5 teams into the Playoff means more money for conferences and schools than TV money from a CCG series.
- If the Pac12 gets a big bump ($15M+) from its current $32Mish per school annually, then the Pac12 sticks together. Geographically, it just makes too much sense. If the Pac12 doesn't get paid, then the top 4-6 Pac12 schools will look to the Big10 and/or SEC for a pay day.
- If the Pac12 schools get their big bump, then the ACC schools are going to come into play. THEY AIN'T GOING TO BE LEFT BEHIND the Big10, SEC and PAC12 until 2036!! Either ESPN will need to step up and increase their ACC Network deal to be inline with the Pac12 OR ACC schools could decide to dissolve their GOR. That allows for wholesale movement of ACC teams to the Big10 and SEC.
Had a BM this morning big enough to have a middle initial.
The SEC currently only has an 8 conference game schedule, so they could easily go to a 9 game conference schedule, if they go to pods, 4 pods of 4 teams each. You play your 3 other teams in your pod, and then you play 2 of the 4 teams from each of the other 3 pods. Do a home and home then switch to other two teams. 4 year cycle, everyone plays everyone else in the conference twice every 4 years.
You then play your semi final round the last week of the regular season, and the finals during the weekend every other conference does. Which means that you are playing semi final games the week of the Army/Navy game when everyone else takes the week off.
Sorry but with a 16 team league its the only way to insure that each side plays one another. Go to 2 8 teams divisions, and you are only playing a team in the other division once every 4 to 5 years.
