Campbell hasn’t been able to address the two biggest issues with Iowa State football... bad line play (on both sides) and poor tackling. It’s really that simple. The recruiting for offensive and defensive lineman has not improved and the development hasn’t either.
Defensive line is fine. They were really good today. Defense as a whole is good. Offense and special teams were embarrassing.

Iowa State is Iowa state. There goes our opportunity to having a first round QB draft. Whoever bewitched Iowa State will never enter heaven. How does a team lay an egg like that? Shouldn’t have bought into the hype. We would have been better off not playing this season at all.

Campbell has moved us up a tier in terms of recruiting and our ability to compete with teams at the top. Very little doubt there. But given that, some of our performances are just inexplicable.

There's not a lot of shame in losing today, if it had been in honorable fashion, like a last-second FG or something. ULL is good. But to just be AWOL like that is just inexcusable. And this happens way, way more often than it should.

100% agreed on everything you said

Also, I had zero expectation for this season. Covid makes everything too unpredictable. I still don’t think the season will finish.

I mean with players not losing a year of eligibility, does this year even count? *

*if ISU ends up winning the conference, then hell yes it counts!!

Our DL has been much, much improved under Campbell.

Are we really sure ISU is that talented?

They're returning a lot of players...but it's from a 7-6 football team in a season where the Big 12 won one bowl game.

Agree. Is ISU really that talented or has everyone just drank a ton of message board Kool-Aid. Notre Dame exposed the talent disparity.

I think it was FB vs **Kansas in 2005 since we needed to beat them to go to the Big 12 championship but this is a depressing list.

Yes, and I have been a fan for thirty years. This team finally has the resources they need, has the most dedicated fan base I’ve ever seen, and are recruiting better players. For them to come out and lay an egg like this is disgusting. This one is totally on the coach and it doesn’t seem like he cares, or he doesn’t get it.

Disagree. Mediocre improvement at best. Defense as a whole has improved, but way too inconsistent. Getting pushed down the field at the end of the game against a Sun Belt team that you know is going to run the ball is absolutely inexcusable. You can’t have that kind of performance and then try to put lipstick on it.
