Just ordered a Kona Jake the Snake CX bike today. I should get it this time next week. These next few days are going to suck with anticipation.

Next purchase will be a Turner Sultan or 5-Spot. Will have to ride each of them to compare. Anyone have experience with either of these?

What locks do you use, CO?

Right now I'm in the market for a cheap commuter. I like the idea of an internal hub just because of the ease of maintenance but haven't really found a ton I like. I need something a little more versatile than single speed.

Something like this I think would be ideal (if they had it in stock): Save up to 60% off new track and singlespeed bikes, Cycles Mercier Road Bicycles | Five Speed Wide Tire Fits Track Bikes - Kilo WT - Save Up To 60% Off Brand new Bicycles

My normal bike is a Jack Kane K Team Carbon.

I don't have to use a lock for my bike when I commute. We have a secure building and bike parking area.

While I like the idea of a SS, I too need more versatility. My commute is 16 miles each way and I need more than one gear to choose from.

Have you looked at some of the cruiser bikes as a commuter? Distance to ride is a big factor.

I haven't really looked at the cruisers. To be honest, they don't really fit my tastes. I'd like something capable of a little more zip. I'm willing to go for something with flat bars, though. Something like the Giant Rapid. The "cafe" style I suppose.

*edit: I really like the idea of the IGH, though.
