Hopefully he’s well and enjoys his first winter in Ames and can add some firepower to the squad next year!

we can put to bed the "maybe he'll play this year" talk

Not that he needs my approval, but I'm fine with him doing whatever it takes to be healthy and ready to go next year. He would certainly help this year, but there's such a significant gap between us and the top of the conference right now. I'm all for letting some of the younger guys get some reps and seeing what we can put on the floor in Hilton next year when the fans can see it in person.

He would help. We were absolutely in the TX and WV games with minutes to play.
But I do agree with you, if we can keep the team "together" we could be suprised next year.

What's the reason again he can't practice with team, etc., like transfers who sit out a year? I realize he's out the year, but confused as to why he can't be coached or practice with team, when/ if ready.

[[*** Ole Miss transfer Blake Hinson is back on campus, Prohm said. The 6-7 guard/forward average 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds last season. He went home in September to deal with an undisclosed medical condition.

“Great to have him back around the guys. I think it’s good for us. I think it’s good for him,” Prohm said. “Still getting to know him. We haven’t spent a ton of time around him hanging out and different things, and that’s a lot to do with the pandemic. But it’s great to have him back. Basketball-wise, we’re not allowed to do anything with him right now. He can shoot on his own, which he’s been doing, and he can do his strength workouts with our strength coach, but basketball and contact stuff, nothing right now. Just individual shooting on his own. (It) will probably be like that for a while.”]]

Yea, Prohm's explanation seemed vague on why Hinson couldn't practice with team. A simple reason might be Covid protocols. Since he is returning to Ames from out-of-state, maybe their is a quarantine period.

It may also be academic related. If he wasn't a student at ISU this past fall, maybe he can't practice with the team until schools starts up again at the end of January. I assumed he was taking online courses through ISU last fall, but maybe not the case.

I realize the original press release said he was out for the season. But with this season not counting against a player's 4 years of playing eligibility, wonder if there is a chance he would play even a handful of games.

In Travis' tweet. Prohm is quoted saying Hinson is not ready to practice with team. But my interpretation of the last sentence is Travis just reiterating Hinson's original status from Sept. I could be wrong & it was Prohm saying earlier this week that Hinson won't play.

If he doesn't play this year, status quo. But if his medical condition is treated, if Hinson could play a few games it would give staff some perspective on rotation next year. Mainly, what does playing combination of Johnson at SF, Hinson at PF and Foster (if he's healthy) at C.

He won't be playing any games this season.

Just want to repost this after he missed the entire season. Really hope Otz keeps Blake in Ames. He's a good shooter and look at how aggressive he is taking the ball to the rim!! That size will be a welcome sight on the court in 2021/22

I just hope the kid can play again, His health stuff is a bit of a mystery.

Body/size/movement reminds me a little of Melvin.

I about had a heart attack when I saw this thread bumped. I agree though, adding in Hinson to the mix will be huge for the team next year.

Is it just me or does his play remind you some of THT?

If he fits the program I hope he comes back. If he doesn't then I hope he leaves. Steve was in desperation mode when he signed a bunch of these guys. That's not a recipe for success.
