Wasn't it around the time of coaches dropping there names that we found out someone was hired in basketball. Maybe this means that we will hear something soon. I can only hope so that maybe I can get some work done instead of checking this damn site 50 times a day.

Yeah, great point cy st8t. I think you're exactly right.

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, I wouldn't expect anything earlier than Monday.

I hear you. I wish we had a cell phone alert feature here.

Don't candidates typically 'remove' themselves from consideration once they have been informed that the position is going in a different direction.

I would love to hear something today, but I fear we will be waiting until next week.....

Has anyone noticed that all other "candidates" are no longer candidates?

Kelly is getting a contract extension. Kragthorpe says he never even interviewed and is not interested in any jobs.

Harbaugh better be the man because if Norvell is the guy we hire I would have just as soon kept Mac. I for one was one that was in strong favor of getting rid of Mac, but not for Norvell.

I thought JP wanted to make our football program healthy. Norvell will not sell tickets and does not have a strong recruiting pedigree. No excitement. Blah Blah Blah.

Agreed on all counts. Fail to see how Norvell would generate any excitement whatsoever. Dump Mac and hire one of his former assistants? Not exactly the kind of program turning change that I was looking for.

Norvell = very boring hire. It would surprise me if that's the direction JP went. McDermott might have a been a boring hire, but there were quite a few other schools after him. So, he was considered more of a catch.

Passing on Ames Broncos tight ends coach Tim Brewster has removed himself from consideration for the head coaching vacancy at Iowa State. The job became available after Dan McCarney resigned with a 12-year record of 56-85.
Interesting...I wonder if he was offered the job and turned it down. Such a statement would be a clever way for ISU to save face after being turned down, it would diffuse the "Does it bother you that you were the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. pick" questions that eventually confront the next coach, while at the same time putting Brewster's name back out there for other jobs.

A reason that I think Harbaugh is "Mac's World" on WOW FM 98.3 is talking about the somewhat confirmed rumors that Ditka was in town this past weekend and had dinner at Fleming's with Johnny Orr and JP. Ditka and Johnny are good and longtime friends. Although Mac is trying to play this as a belief that Ditka may be the surprise candidate, my guess is that JP is just being extremely thorough on Harbaugh before making it official and may also try to have Ditka make an appearance at the announcement celebration to bring more "legitimacy" to Harbaugh.

FWIW - I think Harbaugh is a very good risk to take. He is not Alford as he already has former pro assistants on his current staff whereas Alford's staff lacked any real high level experience or diversity and it clearly showed in the lack of diversity and talent in the recruits he brought in. Go to SDU's page and take a look at Harbaugh's assistants if you still have any questions about him.
