Playing a lot of meaningful minutes, and to answer a question asked along time ago by several people on this board, yes we should have offered Bubu over Colvin.

Wrong.

Love the way Bubu plays. Quick, aggressive, relentless... But, we haven't seen him against anyone yet. Will he be able to provide useful minutes against Big12 competition? I hope so but have a feeling he will be over matched...

I think he'll be spelling minutes come Big 12 time, but that's OK for a redshirt freshman.

I think DPs injury has contributed to his playing time, and DP getting his legs under him will take minutes from Bubu.

I also don't believe at all that this is insulting to Bubu. He looks like he has a nice future here.

I agree that Bubu and many others that are playing now will struggle against the top Big 12 players but I also think the sky is the limit for Bubu and others. I think Phillips and Anderson are hard nosed and scrappy players that Bubu and a few others can learn from. Bubu is a true PG that is a leader who can push the ball up the floor. He could help this team a lot over the next 3-4 years and I am talking about as a player on the floor and not a scout team player. I know his time will decrease as DP's goes up this year.

This year he will see consistent minutes, just not as much as he has thus far.

Next year, barring huge strides, he will see little to no time. Allen, Christopherson, Phillips, and Babb will all, more than likely be ahead of him. Also add Tyrus McGee to that equation and it doesn't look great for Bubu. I really hope he can prove me wrong.

He's already an obvious fan favorite, just think if he could develop into a starting point guard.

Shut me up Bubu!

He is 1 injury away from playing a lot. Also are any of those guys true Point Guards?

Allen is more than capable of being a true point guard, but is a better shooting guard.

Phillips, from what I've heard, is the same way. But isn't proven at the D-1 level, as Allen is.

Scotty is plenty capable of handling the ball when called upon.

It's all going to come down to whether or not the team is better with a true point guard or a combination of "combo" guards. It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

I have not seen Bubu play. I have seen teams try to play without a true point guard. The whole team suffers and does not achieve its full potential.

Some of you are completely sleeping on Bubu. I just finished watching the game again, and he fits our new system perfectly. He can push the ball, he doesn't turn it over, and he can drive the lane. If we had to stand around in the half court all day then he might not play as much, but running up and down the floor we need him.

Disagree, as Bubu is a natural PG. He will see plenty of time next year, especially if we continue the 3 guard lineups.

I was thinking about Bubu's playing time next year last night. One advantage he's going to have over next year's 3 PG recruits is a year of Big XII experience.

OP is wrong. We did not offer and he still came. THat is the best case you could think of.

Coach said post game that Bubu is the best full-court defender, that he knows that's his role and has really bought into it (like everyone on the team) and he will play that role all year.

That is a huge compliment about a walk-on redshirt freshman.

my favorite thing about Bubu is his fearlessness taking the ball to the hole. That and 7 boards in 19 minutes for the littlest guy on the floor.

Bubu will play this year and next year, because he's going to make it impossible to keep him off the floor with his play (assuming he keeps it up).

Agreed. Wouldn't have it any other way. We got him and didn't have to spend a schollie. Can't imagine a better scenario.

I enjoy seeing him play, and he's a student section favorite for sure. How many other schools get to yell, "Booooo" when a player on the home team does something good?

I know it can never be proven, but I think Bubu would not be playing yet if we hadn't switched coaches.

Bubu is an absolute gem for a walk-on. He can get the basket with ease on the run and is a tenacious defender. I wish we had a scholarship for him.

I really hope that between Chris Allen, Chris Babb, Scott Christopherson and Tyrus McGee, not to mention Sledge, that Bubu doesn't have to see a lot of minutes. I'm not sure what everyone else saw, but he was out of control much of the time that he tried to drive last nite. He could get to the basket, but it wasn't the prettiest thing in the world.

I remember him being out of control once but I also remember him making a pretty layup after beating his man and dishing out a nice dime to Scotty.
