It has been all too quiet in this forum over the past 2 days, and I was surprised that no one has mentioned the news that Iowa State is facing a $147M shortfall over the next several years. On hold now are the $25M Hilton Coliseum upgrade as well as the $20M wrestling facility. This is terrible news, and I wonder how it will affect recruiting for athletes when we are competing with other schools that have upgraded facilities for both training as well as performances.

Promise I’m not try to be disrespectful, but reason why it is so quite, minus the threads about the CR Gazette article, is that none of it is new information. Most folks are well aware that NIL payments will require major cost control and development of new income by the AD. Also, the new about the wrestling facility and Hilton have been public for months if not over a year.

25M Hilton reno was paused because of Covid. Wrestling facility was cancelled so wrestlers could get rev share instead and the current room isn't bad at all. If there was any sport that doesn't care about upgraded facilities its wrestling. The rest of the "shortfall" is for rev share which every other school has to deal with.

Thanks for your response. I don't follow the details of the Athletic program much, but I have seen several articles lately discussing the issue as related to the expansion of the Big 12, in addition to the NIL payment arrangements. So I guess that you can tack this up more to my ignorance than anything else.
