I'm getting a new iPhone next friday and i've always gone to the apple store and waited in line to get it. We've always had ATT but want to switch to Verizon this time around. Has anyone bought their phone at the apple store and switched carriers there? Also, how busy to the Verizon stores get on iphone release days? Should i just go to a Verizon store instead?

I read that Walmart is actually offering it cheaper than anyone else.

Here is the post

"Wal-Mart said it will carry 16-gigabyte versions of the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s. The iPhone 5c will be available for $79 ($20 cheaper than its regular price) with a two-year contract from AT&T, Verizon or Sprint. The iPhone 5s will be available for $189 ($10 cheaper than its regular price) from the same carriers."

I suppose if you want something more than the 16gb then this isnt going to help you.

When the iPhone 5 came out last year, I switched from ATT to Verizon, did it all online on the pre-order date. The number was ported to Verizon, and the phone was at my house on the release date, no need to wait in line.

I called ATT to cancel and they told me that when the number ports, the plan automatically cancels and they send you the final bill.

To each his own but I've never stood in line to buy a phone in my life. There's this thing called the internet and overnight shipping.

Really trying to decide to upgrade or just stick with the 4s until next year when another new one comes out. With the software upgrade I might just stick with what I have.

I am also planning to stick with my 4S for one more year and hopefully the iPhone 6 (or whatever) is worth an upgrade in September 2014.

If your 4s suits you and you dont have a huge want or need for the 5s, you might as well wait a bit longer. My wifes 4s is acting buggy (from dropping it and such) so she will probably upgrade now. I currently have a 5 and feel I probably wont upgrade even though Im due to. I like the finger print security option if it works as advertised though.

My 4s is on it's last leg. I use it a lot and my battery really doesn't last much more then about 8 hours. And with selling it on gazelle.com i'm getting $200 for it and so my new one is basically paid for. I want to wait but it won't last much longer.

Verizon has a trade in program right now, might be worth your while to look at. I think a 4s in good shape can fetch you 200 towards a new phone.

It doesnt matter which carrier.

The Apple store will actually give you $200 for a 4s too.

Excellent. Glad to see that.

Edit: looks as though they want 25 bucks less on the trade in.

I'm one of the rare people I think. I've held on to my plain old flip cell phone until now. Last spring I was ready to leave US Cellular because of the lack of an iPhone and then they redeemed themselves by announcing they would carry it. (seems they were losing thousands of customers a month for that reason!). I like their coverage not only in Iowa, but across the nation and their store service is excellent. I'm excited to get ahold of the new phone as the 64 bit processor, fingerprint tech, and the new camera features will all be very cool.

I have a buddy who is on USCellular. Half the time I forget they exist. I hear good things about them honestly, but cant seem to break away from VZ. Im still part of the old Unlimited Data Plan and that may be why I dont mess with my account much. They have to push me out before Ill leave.

I'm still with the iPhone 4 and content. I still haven't seen anything out of the 4S or 5S to tempt me to upgrade. I'll download iOS 7 the day it comes out though. I think it'll be a long time before another game changing phone comes along.

I would second the order online suggestion...unless you want the novelty of standing in line.
