Not exactly sure.
Ebel looked decent but he has a tendency to over-pursue and take himself out of the play. He did that way too often yesterday.
Our issue was the backers. The Dline are eating blockers, either they need to do that or blow the play up. In the past we’ve had backers scrape off and make the tackle. The last couple years our backers get caught in traffic and then have to chase down the carrier.

We really need standardized weekly injury reports. I know some conferences will start doing it for conference play but it’s needs to be across the board. It’s ridiculous a coach can hold a press conference days before a game and say they are healthy and then not have 2 OL and 2 LB even suit up.l becasue they are injured.

That seems like a first time starting problem, how much did he play last year, not much if I recall.
I remember when Jeremiah George finally got his turn, all the buzz was the "light turned on" that off season for him and he had a terrible first game against UNI trying to do too much, the rest of the season he was very good to great.

I said better UP FRONT. Iowa's skill players are hot garbage, but if they can run 3 yards and a cloud of dust, we'll never get off the field.
Which is weird because I saw a comment from one of our fans that they were "sick of watching at a time".

No we don't. Quite frankly it's no ones business but the coaches and players.

The millions of dollars being gambled on the sport says otherwise.

I hate the bearer of bad news but it’s coming. It’ll still be available, probable, questionable, like the NFL does. So there still is some ambiguity and some gamesmanship. SEC and Big 10 are already doing it this year so you know it’ll come to us next.

Why should the coaches have to cater to the idiots who want to bet on games?

It’s called gambling. I don’t care what they think. A team should be able to say these are our players, you will find out come game time who plays. You want to gamble, feel free.

When you have media companies control the sport and those media companies have partnerships and/or their own gambling sites that brings in millions for them then it’s not really up to the coaches or what we think.

Edit: I also believe fantasy college football will explode over the next 10 years. Similar to the NFL. Betting and fantasy football is how they want bring in more casual fans to the sport. Injury reports are required, if thats the route they want to take.

I agree here. The LB play will get better, just not sure it will improve quickly enough for this season to be a success. LB play wasn’t good, but lots of inexperience playing in game one.

So how much is ISU losing in media money by not disclosing everything?

They are not loosing anything, but in time it will change at the top and trickle down. This is a multi billion dollar sport that the media controls.

Currently none because it’s not a Big 12 rule. SEC will start doing it for conference games this year and schools will be fined between $25,000-100,000 depending on the infraction.
