I thought all players that are transferring for their first time are immediately eligible. I don't know about players transferring for their second time.
CW said somewhere that there is obscure NCAA rule that players transferring back to their prior school are immediately eligible. Pretty sure he was serious too.

I'm seeing Grill as backup to GK. Also could be in 3-guard line-up with TH and GK.
A new line-up discussion has suddenly become exciting!

I think Caleb has lots of upside here before his career is over. A more athletic Matt Thomas.

I’ll also be interested to see how his return affects the recruitment of freak athlete and stud ‘23 QB Avery Johnson, from Caleb’s HS.

Caleb's brother Kyle (6'6" Junior PG) was on the state championship team this year, so he's worth keeping an eye on also. And of course their dad Chris coached the championship team, so maybe we're lining up our next assistant coach.

He had 27 against a good Alabama team. I don't know if we had any guards other than Bolton last year who could have scored 27 in a game. Here's to hoping for a few more of those performances next year!

@ChrisMWilliams @JStanz51 is Grill eligible to play in the 21-22 season with this being his second transfer? I know the ncaa rule is immediate eligibility for players transferring their first time.
When Caleb says this, " I can’t wait to be re-united with former teammates and continue to learn and grow as a player..." I think the slates about clear. Are there any former Cyclone 'teammates' of his left? The only one I can name is George Conduit. Anyone else?

Edit: Other than the 3 non-schol players, Boothe, Schuster, Steyer. Shouldn't forget them.

Javan would have been redshirting. Tre Jackson would be the only other left I believe.

Fantastic! What a day. Welcome back to Cyclone Nation, Caleb.

I thought he was just waiting to start hitting shots consistently and seemed a little unlucky that Freshman year. He's got athleticism and some hard-nosed things you can't teach even though he struggled scoring for us. But, his 3 pt. percentage went from 25% at ISU to 34.2% at UNLV and his scoring went from 2.1 ppg at ISU to 9.1 at UNLV. Got to think he'll continue to keep that high and optimistic it will go higher. Might have a three guard line-up or he'll be solid coming off the bench.

What a great day for the guard court. Hunter recommits. Kalscheur commits (two likely shoe-in starters if you ask me) and then Grill commits to come back. Awesome!

Matt Thomas is in the NBA. I see no comparison at this point. Hope he proves me wrong.
