So Hofher and Campbell will be the main play callers I would assume? Glad to see that people in the program are moving into larger roles. Building a culture, not just for players, but for coaches is a real plan for long term success.

I like how these guys are developed within the system. Getting young and hungry coaches without bad habits or egos and allowing them to grow into their roles. Really cool thing to see.

The good thing about young coaches is that they are very much into the social media aspect of recruiting and marketing. They can relate really easily to young players.

IMO that is one of the biggest parts of Campbells success at ISU so far. Being ALL IN with social media and selling the program constantly.

Rhoads hated twitter and it showed.

I hate that this happens at Iowa State so much. We do good one season. Our Offensive or Defensive Coordinator leaves. Then we hire a guy from Within with no experience doing it. Then we suck.

Calm down. The entire defensive staff is still in place and Campbell has been calling the shots on offense anyways. Turnover due to promotion is a good thing. No one has to learn new terminology & no one's being replaced because of a lack of production.

This is how all programs operate. Good programs get good coaches from the bottom-up.

It's now Campbell's turn to prove that even the guys he brings in on the low-end have what it takes to step up to a big stage.

Having lived through McCarney's and Rhoads's demise it's hard to argue this.

But I'm choosing to trust Matt. Matt was a professional head coach when he got here and he's proven his ability to run a program imo. We've been really good on Special Teams which is critical for talent disadvantaged programs like us so I do worry about it. Trusting "the process" I guess...

Hell, Campbell lost his for OC hire at ISU almost immediately when Candle decided to stay at Toledo as the HC. He promoted Manning and didn't really miss a beat.

Yes, losing more assistants will be a test, but Campbell has already done well in that regard so far. He's earned some confidence from fans.

There is a significant difference between Rhodes and his staff versus Campbell and his staff. Rhodes' hiring process seemed like a "throw spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks. Campbell is more of a "see is the person succeeds and then give them more responsibility" guy. In other words, Campbell actually has a plan. And sometimes the new guy ends up being better than the guy that left...wouldn't that be nice?!
