I know plenty of you have zero concern about Peavy's Thanksgiving police encounter and the following punishment from Iowa State (or lack thereof) - if you don't care move on I suppose. For anyone else, is there something I am missing here?
Campbell preaches about character and representing Iowa State University in all of your actions. We have all seen the signage that has been put up mandating the use of the word "please" being used by players and even limited suspensions for things as minor as tardiness to team events.
I know we don't really know how this was handled directly with Peavy, we only see it from the outside but that's important too. To the outside world (perhaps other players, recruits, fans, Iowa State & Ames Community, and college football world, etc.) it seems Peavy's actions were dismissed as trivial. Being caught vandalizing property, running from the police, and having to be arrested at gun point are actions that would have many employees being terminated from their jobs.
It seems to me Campbell and his staff have run the risk of looking a bit contradictory when it comes to their words versus their actions. Am I missing something?
