Can we talk about Ohio?

would people of iowa have more in common culturally with people in those towns or more in common with people in Indianapolis?

You can swap out Indianapolis for many small towns in Indiana (or Ohio for that matter) then.

Cultural commonalities aren’t a good proxy for regional definitions, especially now as the lines between rural and urban are sharpening (more of a Cave topic). People in Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco live in very different regions but probably have more in common with each other than they do with people in rural New England, rural Georgia, rural Illinois, or rural California.

I'm a true Midwesterner and I couldn't care less about the weather unless it affects football or my tomaters! If we cant destroy Ohio then what will happen against the biggies coming up later? Big weekend for me: Going to Toledo vs OSU on Saturday night at 7 pm and big antique tractor pull at 10am Sunday. Pulling in six different classes. Sponsorships would be appreciated.

I used to always call Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania Kentucky and Michigan (the mitten part, not the UP) Ohio valley region. They’re not really the east coast. They’re not really the south. They’re not really the Midwest. Rust belt could work too. Indiana is just Kentucky though, and western Ohio is Indiana, and eastern Ohio and the Michigan mutt are just Pennsylvania (the UP is Minnesota).
UP is the Deep South of the Far North.

Can you give us a better deep-dive on the Bobcats since you're more familiar with them?

So, Solich resigns in late summer [mid July] after a 3-9 season which was real bad for them normally. Defense has allot back, but they sucked last year. Defense has not looked good yet in my opinion. Needed to replace a running back and receivers. QB back, but was not great last year. 33-7.

Ohio vs Iowa State Prediction/What to Watch For:

Just want to preface this with the fact that this ISU team is banged up coming off the last couple weeks. It is likely we don't see some key contributors and may see some guys be limited if playing.

Iowa State on O:
- Even with a few weapons out the offense should be able to hum vs this Ohio defense. I expect HD to have around 285 through the air and a couple TDs.
- OLine should be able to open things up on the ground and like Jay said, Brock and or Sanders should be able to get free on a few plays.
- Really interested to see who steps up at WR... Bitter flashed last week and i'm still waiting for D. Stanley to catch a long one at get going. Maybe we see one of the two Freshman WRs later in the game tomorrow (Gaines or Essex)??

Iowa State on D:
- Ohio's OLine should be competent but I still look for the Cyclones to generate some consistent pressure on Rourke (who has been solid this year).
- Cyclone will be able to stop the run but I am curious to see how they manage the pass heavy attack from the Bobcats. Really interested to see how the depth at S, LB and CB does in known passing situations.

Score Prediction: ISU - 38 Ohio - 17

Ohio has to be divided North and South, not east and west.

North = pretty normal, maybe a Cleveland accent

South = wtf bro, Sweet tea, southern accents, cousins marrying cousins

Are you hinting at X and/or Noel being out today?

After Game Review:

Final ISU - 43 Ohio - 10

Pretty accurate on the score prediction here. Bet the over 47.5 so I was pleased.

ISU on O:
- Hunter again looked calm and confident throughout the game. Even with his talent and capabilities I still am most impressed with how he manages everything throughout the game. Ended up with 268 and 3 TDs. So about where I had him pre game.
- OLine was a bit underwhelming IMO this game. J. Brock struggled to get going early but then broke a long one for 61 yards. Bad series with the back to back sacks but otherwise decent in pass pro. Gotta keep improving as a unit there. Will be helpful when Remburg is back.
- As expected, Stanley and Wilson DNP opening up some opportunities for Gaines/Essex/Bitter to get some snaps. None did much in terms of stats but we’re out there a ton. Shaw had a solid game, so that was encouraging.

ISU on D:

- DLine was really good again. Ohio had literally nothing on the ground and the dudes up front were creating havoc all day. Dom Orange is advancing at an alarming rate for a freshman. The dude walks whoever is blocking him (usually the center) back like 3 yards every play. He is a force.
- Was right about Ohio going no where running the ball but felt like our biggest issue on D, if you want to really pick on something, was tackling.
