I had a trusty source tell me this morning that David is not registered for spring 2019 classes.

I say go get the $$. Iowa State needs draft picks for future recruitment. Also David will be a great ambassador for Iowa State in years to come

Did your source say anything about Hakeem? :)

The combine will be huge for both Butler and Montgomery. If DM can rip off a fast 40 time, he will rocket to the top of the RB list and could potentially be a 1st rounder. If Butler can show good hands and routing running along with a fast 40, he could rise higher. I think his problem, is that this is considered a deep WR class.

That doesn’t impact bowl eligibility, right? I know fall grades can, courtesy of Deion Sanders.

first play on highlight reel is against Iowa, where he is facemasked, then trucks an "AA".

highlight video:

Wow. He is so impressive. And I couldn't help but notice what good downfield blocking we had last year.

I'd hate to see him go but as a Chiefs fan he's the guy I want to see them draft. Hunt was also coached by Campbell and DM has a lot of the same talents that Hunt did on the field minus the character issues.

Selfishly I'd love to see both DM and Butler back but realize there is a good chance 1 or both declare for the draft. I'm also gunshy about where they might go in the draft too after seeing Lazard go undrafted last year and not make a team. I think DM probably will go higher than Butler based on teams needing RB like him and while Butler is a freak he still drops some passes and those 50/50 balls he goes up and catches in college are more like 20/80 balls in the pros where the DB is much bigger and athletic than the average DB he plays against in college. Butler probably has more questions about his draft position right now than DM does.

Selfishly, I'm holding out hope he comes back. But I'll be super happy for him when he declares. He deserves the best.

Damn, that Swift kid on UGA isn't eligible to come out yet? That's the only RB I've seen that I'd take over David at the moment. I have not seen the Clemson guy play.

I would be very surprised. The window for RBs to make money is shorter than any other position by far. And I think the only way for David to improve his draft stock is if the O-line takes a big step forward next year and his stats become even more eye popping and I don't see that happening.

I think the line will be improved next year, but even then, does a better year, combined with the extra mileage on his tires and the risk of injury, work out to more money (and is that worth the risk)? It's really questionable whether it is worth taking that chance.

I hope he goes pro for his sake.

I think he'll get drafted within the first 2 rounds.

People compare his style a bit to Barkley, which I get. But Barkley was ELITE. I don't think Montgomery gets considered in the same draft position (Top 10).

Barkley is bigger, likely faster, had the strongest bench press numbers of a RB at the combine that year, and had a 40+" vertical. Not to mention the film to back it all up.
