I'm surprised it wasn't more.

I had a friend years ago that was in advertising (think still is) and somehow ended up doing some voice work for a few commercials as some 'side work'. One 10ish second segment made him $60,000.

His argument for that kind of pay out was that he had to say his part a bunch of times. A bunch of us at the time had odd/general jobs in customer service so we flipped him all sorts of **** since we all said the same things over a year's time and didn't make that much.

To add to this, for most people in the entertainment industry for acting, voicework, singing, dancing, etc.; their work usually comes in waves. They may have a busy couple of months, and then nothing for a couple of months. Consistent work is hard for people in this industry. Even people who hit lightening in a bottle for a couple of years may get into a string of bad movies and their star fades just as quickly. On the flip side, you have people who never had a big hit and are just doing commercials or being background characters.

So for your friend, he had an awesome side gig, but if that was his only job, that 60k may have had to last him for a couple months before he found another gig.

I'm fascinated by this and check celebs net worth all the time. The most shocking one for me was Burt Reynolds. He was only worth a million or two when he died. Obviously, any of us would be happy with that, but he was one of the biggest stars in the world for a stretch. I guess he said in an interview he'd made some bad investments.
He lived in Jupiter. I think I remember he had a restaurant and poured a lot of $$ into it. And it crashed and burned.

He was making a ton as his main job. I know once he was doing editing work on several running commercials.

Someone I think talked to him once and literally just thought his voice would fit for commercials.

I would guess he's basically a millionaire now.

I occasionally like to look at celebritynetworth.com to see how much some people are worth nowadays. I saw a post on Robert Carradine, which got me to wondering what he'd been doing in his career lately (if anything) and that got me to wondering how much he was worth. So I looked it up. The answer was stunning (to me). It said he was worth a measly $300,000. How can that be? I'm worth more than $300,000 and I'm not some famous guy who's been in a load of films and comes from a famous acting family. You'd think his house alone would be worth more than that.

So that got me wondering about the other brothers and found something even more astonishing. David Carradine, before he died, was worth a paltry $500,000. Keith Carradine, the middle brother, is the richest of them all, or maybe didn't just squander all his riches. He's worth $6 million.
Many in the entertainment business have there net worth decrease significantly every four years. Adds up over a lifetime.

Just go back and pull sound bites from the first Yankees - White Sox field of Dreams game. Costner wouldn’t shut the hell up and probably said 95% of the words in the English language during his endless rambling.

Lordy, I am so over that guy. Yankees game broadcast (can't remember the network) this summer had him in the booth for multiple innings doing self-promotion of his latest ****. I wanted to throw a brick through my TV. Finally muted it. Think it was probably with the uber annoying Bob Costas.

Silverado had an allstar cast, including costner. I tried to find out how much each actor made, but all i could find was Kevin Kline was paid the most.
