Just Looked up the current/previous affiliations of this years selection committee, they are as follows:

Tyrone Willingham: Former Notre Dame, Stanford and Washington Head Coach
Steve Wieberg: AP writer
Gene Smith: Current OHIO STATE AD
Dan Radakovich: Current CLEMSON AD
Rob Mullens: Current Oregon AD
Jeff Long: Current Arkansas AD, and the AD rep for the SEC
Bobby Johnson: Former Vanderbilt Head Coach
Tom Jernstedt: NCAA VP, Oregon Alumni
Chris Howard: Robert Morris University Pres, Air Force Academy Alumni
Herb Deromidi: Former Central Michigan Head Coach, University of Michigan Alumni
Jeff Bower: Former U of Southern Miss Head Coach
Frank Beamer: Former Virginia Tech Head Coach
Kirby Hockutt: Texas Tech AD

Just looking at the affiliations of the members, I have no idea how this is allowed.
Direct committee member P5 affiliations:

SEC-2
Big 10-2
ACC-2
Pac 12-3
Big 12-1

This also doesn't include the possible biases of the other members not affiliated professionally with a conference. I bet the Southern Miss head coach thinks pretty fondly of the SEC. Or any of Steve Wieberg's (AP) biases. It is no wonder the Big 12 gets no respect. We are completely unrepresented. Also, wouldn't it be a weird conversation with the current AD's from Ohio State and Clemson in the room? Or an exec from the SEC? Seems like they would have a much stronger opinion than the Texas Tech AD seeing that their school's teams are in the playoff conversation. I feel like the committee members should have more diverse backgrounds with multiple conferences. Or maybe even retired DII coaches. What is everyone else's thoughts?

AD's shouldn't be able to be on the committee. Seems really unfair. I'm sure Gene Smith has zero bias towards OSU when he makes his rankings.

Cowherd on the radio today had a Vegas guy on there proclaiming that Ohio State should be 3rd and that they were almost a lock if they win out . The OSU bias is just killing me.

They have 2 losses. One at home vs OU and one on the road versus the hoks. Neither one was a close loss, either. Which undefeated team does he think they're better than? Alabama, Wisconsin, or Miami? Based on what? And why would someone think they're better than OU, who only has one loss and beat them at their place? I guess hok fans are right, Cowherd is only after controversy (ouch!).

The Vegas guy said he was basing it entirely off who would be favored in Vegas in a head to head. Cowherd surely got him on there because the results favored OSU.

Edit: For example, he said OSU would be favored by 5 if playing Miami head to head.

So why aren't there more Vegas Odds-makers on the committee?

(not directed at you, pride, just being a wise ass)

It just makes me wonder about the structure of the committee. Why 13 members (seems like a really weird number to land on)? How are they chosen? Is their a guideline to picking members? Do they have to sign agreements about possible bias opinion?

Well that's obviously biased by the largest, richest, and dumbest fan bases. Good criteria for picking the "best" teams.

The opinion is supposed to be biased IMO. It's a kangaroo court of sorts, designed to look official and deliver the desired results.

Just like the rest of society. I'd make far more money if I did less work and just delivered the desired results.

How anyone can think the CFP "get's it right" is beyond me with four teams from five conferences. America is relying on 13 biased individuals to omit a major conference champion every season.

If you get your ass handed to you by 31 points to 6-4 Iowa, you have no business in the CFP.
Especially when the Hoks promptly followed up that win by getting completely annihilated by the Badgers - and the final score of that game was NOT indicative of the total domination by UW. tOSU is, hands down, UNWORTHY of a CFP berth.

Their problem is consistency. Then they put stupid ******* Hocutt on TV and he talks about the ISU loss holding OU back while Clemson hasn't beaten as many top 15 teams and they lost to Syracuse who is demonstrably mediocre. They can't put out the criteria though go by on a consistent basis and they constantly want to ball wash the traditional powers based on what they did last year or the past few years. It's a joke. My hope is just that Baker Mayfield gets in there and boat races everyone in his path and I hope is talking the whole time he does it. The playoff committee is a joke and all it takes is a look at the roster of people who don't really watch the games or have any business determining the quality of a body of work to see it.
