For reasons I have stated in previous posts, chances are not very good. :no6xn:

If I had to bet on it, I'd put 90% or more of my money on the information PsychedClone is giving us.

I hope we're able to magically sway this kid somehow but apparently it doesn't look good.

"We can almost promise him that he can start."

Sorry, don't buy that. Not next year anyway. We have Jiri and Thompson in the paint as Center. Pencil in for Brackins as PF. SF? Try wesley and Rashon. Sorry, no room for Negedu as we can't "promise" him he will start. Yeah, its bad for recruiting him but good for ISU as we will have a lot of talent in the front court and their will be lots of competition on the floor for getting minutes.

Negedu is a '08 recruit, so Jiri and Rahshon will be gone his freshman year. Thompson would be a senior. Negedu is 6'6" or 6'7" and probably a PF, Eric Coleman sytle, in McDermott's system.

A front line of Wesley/Negedu/Brackins looks good to me, with Thompson thrown in the first year.

But I would imagine McDermott isn't the type of coach to promise anyone a starting position.

Where ever there is danger.
Call me crazy, but I have a hunch that McD wiill get Negedu into Iowa State. The only thing that could stop him would be the constant bad mouthing he probably hears about ISU from P'Allen. I hope when this happens that Brackins steps up and tells P'Allen to p'stuff it.

Negedu is an '08 recruit. Jiri would no longer be here.

no that answers my question. i would have to disagree though...i think what they had years ago doesnt play too much into it now. they just dont seem to have that amazing history to me. yeah they have a couple championships and a couple alum but, i guess it just doesnt seem all that impressive. its not recent enough. they havent had much for a while now.

The U of A has more than a "couple" alums. Off the top of my head:

Gilbert Arenas
Richard Jefferson
Mike Bibby
Andre Iguodala
Channing Frye
Damon Stoudamire (sp?)
Luke Walton
Jason Terry

Although the Wildcats aren't in the top 10 right now, they are in the top 20, and if I had NBA aspirations and Lute Olson was recruiting me I'd certainly give it some serious thought.

if i was a big man and GMac was recruiting me i would give ISU some serious thought. so basically what we are determining is that it could be 50/50, just as the poll is showing. I agree with those who have a hunch hes leaning isu. i on the other hand understand the arizona side.

i know they are ranked. i dont think they should be. they are ranked for the same reason that notre dame is always ranked in football. the past is the past. i think negedu sees that.

clonefan65, you cant just throw a list of every AU alum in the nba and argue that as the reason their program is better right now. i bet we can come up with a list nearly that long of clones in the league. will, marcus, jamal, jackson

I tend to think ISU has a better chance than we might collectively think, esp. if Negedu is a legitimate nba prospect. Here's my rationale...

If you look at Lute and AZ's nba players over the last 15 years, it's largely swing position and perimeter players (Sean Elliot the exception).

If Negedu were to approach his decision the following way: "Which coach's system and philosophy will get me the highest draft position i can attain?" I really believe that answer is Coach McD and ISU.

Thats what I was trying to say...you are better with words than I. If he wants to be coached by a guy that can coach big men....ISU!
