After losing five of its last six games when the Pac-12 South appeared to be there for the taking, the brass at Arizona State had seen enough. As a result Dennis Erickson is once again without a job. Now it's time to turn the heat up on who will become the Sun Devils' next head coach.
An early favorite has emerged. Football Rumor Mill
tweeted Houston 's Kevin Sumlin will be the leading candidate. The blog also mentioned Southern Miss head coach Larry Fedora as a possibility.
FootballScoop.com disagreed, "Kevin Sumlin will get a look; but it won't surprise us if June Jones winds up with this job."
Bob Young, a columnist for The Arizona Republic, supplied a "Black Friday" wish list as potential replacements for Erickson.
The list included Leach, Miami's Al Golden, Boise State's Chris Peterson, TCU's Gary Patterson and Sumlin. As an
earlier Rumor Central addition provided, Leach is laying in wait and remains very interested in the possibility of Arizona State.
